I dont think that this story is true.
Asking stupid questions does not help. Then you get stupid answers. Asking good questions does help. And good personal help with homework works often better than explanations by teachers.

You could be right. But, I asked tons of "good" questions that people thought were silly. I had a genuine interest in the answers to those questions, and it wasn't until I had good junior/senior year teachers who would be willing to answer them for me. Also, I don't think the post specifies on whether or not the "dumb" anxious girl was failing her classes. Perhaps her friend also helped her with her homework. In fact, it seems as though they had that sort of relationship.
