If there was an indispensable man that died, there would be calamity. The poem might sound sad or depressing but it's pretty liberating in my opinion, it's not saying we aren't irreplaceable. Just indispensable. There would be people (family members, close friends, etc) that would miss us when we die, and we can each make a difference and leave a legacy. But that's not to say that the world wouldn't be able to function without us. Too many people say yes to things they don’t want to do out of egoistical worry that that others will simply not be able to function without them. If there was truly an indispensable man, then the fate of civilisation would be fucked.

I don't 100% agree with your later sentences, but I totally agree that this poem is wrong. The poem basically says human life has no value.

My last sentence is not saying that you are better than everyone else, just that no one is worth more than you :)
