Just imagine where it would be if communism hadn't tortured or murdered a hundred million of their people. You don't just spring back from that. Gobal dark ages have happened over less. Heck, I feel bad for China too. If I were Chinese, I'd be pissed at the USSR for infecting my country like that.

It would be firmly in the third world? Russia was a shithole long before the communism, much more backward and pathetic than USSR. At least in China's case there is a proof they could have a successful country (Taiwan) without commies.
