Wow, I like how much you've thought about this.
I didn't think the sound would be bad by comparison, but you're right, I could just stay at home and listen to iPod lol.
I'm sure there are some kind of work arounds they'll invent (gotta get them dollars, yo!) - but my guess, now that I think about it, eventually you could produce "robot" versions of people and sort of "randomise" their "on-stage" personality and let the robos them jam out the old tunes, could be kind of fun.
Pretty disgusting how they'll take advantage of tragedy to sell this kind of stuff (same probably applies to like, robot versions of loved one - or whatever, like that episode of black mirror).
