Why do you want it? Canadians don't need to pay taxes to their country if they're a citizen in their own country, right?

Maybe I'm confusing things. I know that Americans have to pay tax to the US government even if they're a resident of a different country. I thought the thread was about avoiding paying tax in two countries, but now I've read it more closely. I wouldn't know what you can do. Maybe you can declare yourself souvereign.

I could, but as a disabled and extremely ill individual unable to work, it wouldn't be easy by any measure, even though New Yuck state is less than an hour's drive from here. To boot, the USA is about to implode into a civil war, and I want no part of that.

Yeah. It'll be ugly here. Although, empire centers generally fare better than surrounding vassal states during/after collapse.

You live in Canada? I was stationed at Ft Drumm many years ago, and I used to go to Kingston to party. Been to Ottawa a few times to.

I don't miss the lake effect snow falls.

Ottawa is less than 2 hours from here. We might fare better than expected, given our peculiar culture here in Québec.

Have you obtained this status then? It might be a bit more complicated for us in Québec since our law system is based on French law, although this is a federal thing... Hm...
