This is a function of the site designer being not incredibly bright. Under the hood, there is no 'insightful' or 'funny', only +2 Karma, and + 1 Karma. Essentially these categories are meaningless, because a funny is just worth half an insightful. People who realize how the post popularity works just '+3' posts they like to move it up by clicking both
