          Yep, this is what happens in all societies where women are hidden away. Men target their attraction to boys instead.

          As far as the culture goes so long as you are giving rather than receiving you don't count as gay so that gets round the homophobic religious laws. A lot of Islamic countries have very trans friendly laws for similar reasons.

          Basically the old rich men rape poor boys who of they complain are then killed for being gay or castrated because they are sensible enough to declare themselves trans.

          But in Afghanistan they are completely open about it.

          Also when they move to societies where women are seen and approachable then the need to sexualise boys disappears.

          This isn't a lie spread on the intent. This is something anthropologists have observed in Afghanistan for a couple of hundred years.

          Maybe this is your problem, you need to be a little more curious about the world outside of your own personal experience and be less trusting of people you meet at the mosque.
