^ This is exactly why I joined.

I'm not 100% left/right and this site gives some great, albeit sometimes abrasive, insight on American politics from both sides and allows you to form opinions on your own.

Nothing like Reddit where you get "the truth" shoved at you from every single sub on the front page and if you have a question you get downvoted to oblivion.

    That being said, welcome!

    Missed it.

I would love to discuss things in a substantial, evidence driven way. Full disclosure- walked-away liberal before it was a thing.

Why do we need to call ourselves ANYTHING? Why can't we be Americans discussing politics and presenting facts and arguments?

Like WTF is wrong with this country that we HAVE to take sides as if politics are the NBA?

I would hope it's about all politics, political theory, movements, etc, not just the narrow party politics in the US.

I would too, but the front page of SAIDIT looks like Putin's Little Elves working overtime to get Don the Con re-elected.

Every time I've looked into details of
Trump-Russia collusion story I've been pretty underwhelmed. I mostly find bullshit.

The DNC hacking thing was not Russia (look into crowdstrike)

The impeachment hearing found no evidence of collusion, now I'm seeing stuff about Spygate that implicates it was all a political hit-job. I think I saw that the Steele dossier is of questionable integrity as well.

Is there something I'm missing? Why is the Trump Russia narrative still going?

This entire site is open to your viewpoints. We not only tolerate liberal views, we welcome them. Most conservatives enjoy watching liberal logic crumble at the site of hard fact.

Hmmmm...Just the fact you automatically call someone who's a centrist a liberal makes it clear that you don't know WTF the center is - there are Americans who actually attempt to get to the bottom of all the cant and it is possible to think Trump is a con artist and dumb as a rock, and intensely dislike Biden too.

    Perhaps try it some time.

And by the way, I guarantee I can destroy your arguments. If one can even call them "arguments" with a straight face.

Ok internet tough guy. The fact you call everyone on this site GOP astroturfers is a giveaway as to your politics. Maybe I am wrong. Instead of eating your own, though, perhaps you can educate us with some real content. You do have content, don't you?

    [–]noice 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

I don't think saidit is a big enough blip on tptb's radar that it's not too astroturfed yet.

Yeah, the people here do it for free.

    [–]noice 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

You mean express their genuine opinions?

    [–]NorfolkTerrier 7 insightful - 4 fun7 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

Many people online have complex/deeply held beliefs in real life, but in terms of online behavior it's easy to get trapped in the rage-click ecosystem. Whatever our political beliefs are, there's a certain type of story calculated to trigger gut feelings of anger and powerlessness (mainly). The brain becomes a flowchart reacting to common trigger words and symbols. It gets hijacked and will begin to reproduce the type of content/message on its own. So normal people will start to behave like "shills" in certain contexts. I think that's what OP is identifying.

Ah I think I see what you're saying. However it's impossible to avoid that anywhere, really. I think saidit has a pretty good community so far, who genuinely want to be intellectually challenged, and I've found plenty of nuanced viewpoints on this site.

    [–]TheSaneMiddle[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

But the front page is a virtual Trump rally - so where are alternate viewpoints?

    [–]noice 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

    Post away, compadre!

Be the change You want to see. It is the saidit way.

    [–]NorfolkTerrier 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Right now this is unfortunately a bizarro world /r/politics. However there isn't censorship of what sites are allowed to be posted, so if you want to post more left-leaning or other perspectives, there's nothing wrong with that. Because there are no downvotes, the worst people can do is ignore it.

I think that many of the Extremely Online right are receptive to left arguments on certain economic issues, poverty, militarism, etc. So it's possible that left-leaning posts with that perspective could do well even with the current audience.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Every time I sign on to SAIDIT all I see is a WALL of Trumpmania, they must be paid by the post, so where are the dissenters?

    [–]scrubking 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

Ah, a new Reddit leftist joining to try and take down Saidit and all conservative views.

I just read the frontpage on the way to other subs, but are you Don Jr.? Whoops, I forgot, Don Jr. doesn't know how to read...

/u/JasonCarswell/m/saidit_politics - on the right is an incomplete list of many SaidIt politics subs.

/s/PoliticalAnalysis is specifically about analysis, though I haven't posted there in a while.

    /s/ElectionsUSA2020 is under used.

    /s/politics is the lazy default.

Yes there are more Trump supporters here, but there are a handful of mild SJWs and feminists, some old-Left, and some who don't buy into the left-right divisive tribal bullshit and realize that it's all rigged theater controlled by the ruling class' globalist Zionist technocratic corporatocracy.

I'm centrist but lean left and very anarchist, and know it's all rigged.
