Maybe he wanted you to verify if the news media is covering this story. When I looked at the home page, as u/Jiminy suggested, I see they are covering the story even today on the front page. However, they called the shooter, Jeffrey Moreno, a female by the changed name of "Genesse". I don't know any females that were named Jeffrey at birth.

Fuck off Jet. None of this was known 17 hours ago. Moreover, the cops who - just a few hours ago - eventually reported on the alias names noted that she has always been on record as female. Jeffrey is another alias, not a sex designation. My arguments were that any claim about trans designation was not known and that the person has had a child. (Some claim it's the partner's child.) You're also supporting those who want to focus on sex orientation rather than the fact that the ease with which anyone gets guns in the US has resulted in these numerous shootings. It's the oldest GOP NRA argument that there is nothing they can do about the shootings because people are crazy, when we know that gun laws in alomost every other country result in hardly any shootings. Read the history of the fucking thread before commenting. You're obviously not here to be rational.

If they were born as a male at birth that makes them trans, just because he decided he wanted to be a she doesn't change that fact. Sorry but just because you think you are something, it doesn't mean everyone around you has to play your delusional games and call you what you want. I'm more concerned that they knew he had a history of mental illness and a prior criminal record, yet still was able to obtain fire arms. Clearly the system isn't working and needs to be fixed.

    Many years ago when I became a partner/Principle of a large international firm I brought up subject to the executives and titled that "why would we hire crazy" and took to several points of a firm that employs about 40 different nationalities/cultures all over the world.     Of course, whether that matters is another subject entirely.

    Her son is 7 (some media outlets initially misreported 5), and presumably her wife or girlfriend gave birth to him seven years ago, when she was 29.

    Maybe that was pre-transition for her, or maybe it wasn't; some trans people are perfectly fine having penis-in-vagina sex even if their anatomy doesn't match their self-identified gender. Anyway, that's just a guess; the public isn't currently privy to those details.

    They've declared it fake news and forced several media outlets to remove articles stating it. They've not really presented any evidence that is true, except to proclaim that the shooter was the maternal mother of the child. No one will be able to confirm this and now days, they might call the maternal father a maternal mother, if they identified as such. The child was shot in the head, while essentially used as a human shield, so the child won't be telling....

    The shooter did have a long history of schizophrenia and at least one forced mental health hospitalization, though.
