If Maxwell is acquitted, the justice system is dead. I wonder if that's what they're going for, trying to foment despair and anger.

The justice system is corrupt and has been for a long time. I don't say it's broken because it's fixed, or rigged. When it comes to those with power and connections, or when it comes to the way things work, or when it might impact the way those in power maintain their wealth, there's just too much at stake for it to not be corrupt.
