Why are so many TIMs obsessed with anime?

Something I've noticed about many tims (especially young ones) is that they're often obsessed with anime. Is there any particular reason for that?

On top of what u/oofreesouloo already said.... anime is one of the most male-targeted kinds of media in the world.

  • There is constant sexualization of the kind that men like. It's all about visuals and all about bodies. There's pantyshots, large breasts, narrow waists, large hips. Everything is about bodies and the way scenes are directed (how the "camera" moves and what it focuses on) is very, very much dependent on the male gaze.

  • The stories are always pure, unadulterated male power fantasies. They always center around mediocre and nerdy young men (the exact kind of person anime is targeted towards and incidentally the same kind of person who is likely to start identifying as trans) who are called upon to save the world, somehow prove themselves adept at this against all odds, and are accompanied by a number of highly attractive and always sexually available female characters.

  • The genres are always the kinds of interest to men. Action, horror, adventures. There's rarely any real romance and if there is, it's what passes for romance to a horny teenage male.

So not only is anime highly attractive to men - it is attractive specifically to timid, nerdy, shy and horny men. Those are the exact kinds of men who would hang out too much on the internet and therefore be exposed to trans ideology, to develop porn addiction from watching too much of it and develop psychological issues from constantly being exposed to bizarrely unrealistic depictions of women, men, sexuality and life in general. It's for similar reasons that so many trans-identified men are programmers. Both anime and programming are very attractive to the male psyche and appeal specifically to socially awkward and maladjusted loners.

I'm old. Would you ELI5 the origin of Hentai anime, briefly, please? One guy's doodles that found a following, or a following that found a media ?

The short history (take this with a grain of salt, since this is my perspective and my summary will be influenced by my personal views on it):

European art is brought over to north-america with the settlers -> Americans adapt it according to their own tastes, Mickey Mouse and co develop -> WW2 brings american soldiers over to Japan, who bring with them their art -> the japanese adopt that art and make comics (japanese: "manga") and later also TV shows (japanese: "anime") with it -> unlike the US and europe, where cartoons are mostly aimed at children, japanese cartoons aim at teens instead (I have a pet theory as to something that could have influenced this, but I don't wanna go too in-depth here. I could write you in DM if you wanna know) -> the industry, like any other, has its ups and downs and tries to keep itself afloat, among other things by trying to appeal more to its target audience, leading to exaggerated male power fantasy plots, action and sexual content -> the industry notices that one of their safer and more profitable sources of money is young men buying merchandise of their favorite female characters -> the industry shifts focus toward intentionally creating female characters men will want to buy figures, pillow covers (don't ask) and posters of

That should give you a very rough idea of what happened so far, but yeah, take that with a pinch of salt.

I agree with this. Unlike cartoon that specifically targeted towards children, manga and anime has very wide range of genres, topics (there are informative, scientific and philosophical gems) and covers all age demographic (kids, preteen/teen/YA aka shoujo/shounen and adult aka josei/seinen). Unfortunately, the milk cow of the industry is fantasy/action genre targeted towards teen males and has sexualized stereotypical female characters as "fan service". Fans turn the fan service into fetish-heavy hentai and now people try to make hentai fetishes their reality 🙄

you know, i think a lot of this fantasization is spilling into all kinds of media. doesn't even matter what intrinsic identity(sex, race, sexual attraction) the fantasization is for, it's all just going berserk due to overly lax quality assurance

Because they're all shut-in nerds who live their lives through the internet. I am one of those people but thankfully I never got drawn into weird anime or gender stuff, but I can see how others are.

They probably watch lots of hentai. Fetishes, fetishes, oversexualization, gigantic boobs, "naive teenage ~giggly~ girls". Guess where you find all that? Hentai.

u/oofreesouloo Kid you not, I recently saw a younger teen TIM do that trademark skip/giggle/bounce that every "dumb bubbly busty anime girl" does. What they consume is definitely a huge part.

yeah, kids, and even teens, are pretty impressionable based on my experiences. sometimes i still walk kinda wackily because of my frequent playing of roblox and maining mr. game and watch in smash for like maybe ten hours max lol

No, I think they're TIMs because of AGP - autogynephilia. Apart from that, like many guys, they consume lots of porn which depicts a oversexualized picture of women. They find hentai. You join 1+1=2 and you get TIMs. They are attracted to BEING an oversexualized version of a woman (a degrading caricature). It's all about their kinks and fetishes really (such as forced feminization).

In my opinion (because I'm not qualified in any health field), YES, definitely. I don't know why, but men tend to think that what they see in porn is how reality works. That that's how sex should work, how women would like to be treated, how women "operate". Obviously, that couldn't be further from the truth and many of them fail to realise porn is actually PURELY made to the MALE gaze which makes TIMs with AGP even more ridiculous when they say they "feeeeeel" like a woman😂

Liking hentai and anime in general is not a bad thing , but when it’s replacing reality it’s detrimental
