I think you'll find in tribal peoples women and men to roughly the same amount of work, around 3-4 hours a day. Tribal people also tend not to like strong men leaders and will kill them off if they think they are getting too powerful.

It depends on the type of tribe. Some of them are like that, but they generally have an alpha male and a strict social order. This was probably more true in the past than now, but that's where our instincts come from.
