As someone who thinks all the controversy around mascots and team names is stupid, overblown, and only taken seriously by stupid people; this is a terrible analogy that demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the original stupid people's grievance.

The white in this case has nothing to do with people, nor is being called white an insult.

A much better analogy is the fighting Irish lehpricon. It is literally two racist stereotypes rolled into one beloved mascot.
