    An American civil war would not happen without some catalysing spark. It would need to be something huge, like gun confiscation, or an economic collapse. Otherwise, white conservatives would not be able to overcome the inertia of their own inaction.

    This is unlikely. Repiblicans have decided to boil the gun frog slowly. Trump said "take the guns first" and conservatards loved it. They will chip away at gun rights for a few more decades until theyre gone.

    economic collapse.

    This one is more likely. Another great depression might spark a war or it could consolidate power even more as citizens become even more dependent on the government and mega corporations and mega banks.
