I'm totally skeptical about the 'Arab Barometer'. Co-founder is a Jewish scholar who has worked for the Brookings Institute and receives massive amounts of grants from among others Jewish NGO's and the State Department. Clearly they have a vested interest in promoting this idea that especially Iran is just begging to embrace liberal modernity and throw off the hated ebil Mullahs. He also gets an astonishing amount of money from Qatar who are obviously regional enemies of Iran. One wonders how these people consider themselves scholars. Doesn't mean it's nescessarily wrong but one should at least question that.

Here's his CV: https://cps.isr.umich.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Mark-Tessler-vita-April-2020.pdf

Can't find much information about GAMAAN though it seems like another NGO run outside of Iran in Europe probably populated by ex-pats with their own axe to grind. Would be interested to know who's funding it and wouldn't be surprised if it's people with the same agenda as the ones funding Tessler.

This makes sense.

Arab Barometer didn't do the survey in Iran.
