I had this conversation with someone IRL back in 2016, where once you embrace actual nationalism, you have to distance yourself from a lot of his content since the two are not compatible. It's a tough pill to swallow when you're so focused on protecting pointless abstractions like "individual liberty" and "freedom of opportunity". I do believe he is useful for big tech because his followers can pretend to be dissidents by attacking arbitrary aspects of neoliberalism while implicitly accepting its underpinnings. I think a lot of the garden-variety leftists who hate him are filling the same role for the other side. As I alluded to previously, most of the JBP fans today are so entrenched in their worldview that they are less receptive to nationalist thought than many leftists I've argued with, online and in person.
