The main question nobody asks, and I haven't heard Ye or any of his interviewers discuss: what exactly does the jewish part have to do with any of it? How is that responsible in any way for the bad behavior? I suspect Ye has not thought about this because it would require sophisticated arguments having to do with details of the faith and behavioral effects of that.

However, Ye is definitely making a point that is going above the head of almost everyone I have seen interview him. He wants to point out a double standard that seems to exist only for jewish people in certain industries, who dodge responsibility via censorship that is justified on historical grounds. It seems everyone is proving his point.

Personally, this discussion is similar to the conversation about muslims and terrorism. Pointing out how they're related is triggering for a lot of people because it implies anyone who is muslim is also a terrorist. The conversation is derailed because it's hard to criticize an ancient religion effectively. Even so, there probably is a link between religious beliefs and the actions of the believers. Truly believing that your book is the ultimate source of answers will probably affect your perspective, values and therefore your actions. Making it clear why the religious identity is part of the problem is also a way to steer away from any talk about lineage.

Kanye says "the Jews are shutting down everyone who disagrees with their agenda" gets him shut down by organizations substantially owned and/or operated by Jews, like, what--you think he's gonna conclude "oh, I must be mistaken?"

Besides, Jewishness isn't a religion. It's an ethnicity. You're Jewish if your mother is Jewish. Plenty of atheist Jews out there who never attend religious services.

Yeah that's the irony. That's why I think it's probably not a typical conspiracy, since then surely they would see the obvious. Instead it's decentralized decisions that I guess happen consistently anyway. It may have to do with the faith, or culture, or a combination of many things, just like muslims and terrorism. The tricky part is that this time is not terrorism but censorship and control, and that is a harder link to find.

Choose any or some from this mix of the following ideas:

  • Jews represented a distinct people with their own interests and identity
  • individual Jews on average had greater allegiance to the Jewish people than to their host population
  • Jews as a group were adept at securing power financially, in the arts, and in the media
  • and finally that Jews would use the power they attained to further their own interests at the expense of the interests of the host population whenever those were in conflict.

1) I guess is complicated. Saying they're a race is like saying Latinos are a race, which is not really true because they're both a mix of many races. I would say it's about culture and also their religion, which includes being a nation of people regardless of where they're born.

2) is true for all groups of people. There are always in-group preferences. The question is whether there is a double standard, since most other groups of people promote avoiding this bias.

3) this is a fact, the question is the method of achieving such dominance.

4) related to 3), that is the main question, at least within specific industries.

There is another way to quickly frame all of this. Critical Race Theory is only applied to white people (in the body of work, and all the discussions around it). What Ye is really doing is applying CRT to jewish people. The irony is spectacular.

Saying they're a race is like saying Latinos are a race

Not at all. Jewishness is 100% an ethnicity. It is detectable on DNA tests.

Do you know what a "shiksa" is? It is a foul white temptress that a Jewish man marries. Since his children won't have a Jewish mother, they won't be ethnically Jewish like he is. It's why they have an ugly slur in their language for women like that.

[–]proc0 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It's at least an ethnicity that has a lot of other races mixed in as well. There are black jewish people in africa, and surely anyone would conclude for all intents and purposes it's a different race than an ashkenazi. So in a way, only a part of jewish people fit the definition of a race, which means as a whole it is not.

Yes, there are others like sephardic, etc. And Israel had a problem with Ethiopian Jews, and forcibly injected them with birth control when they got to Israel in order to stop them breeding. Conspiracy theory? Here's the article in that conspiracy theory newspaper, Haaretz.

it's a religion and/or an ethnicity! speaking of double standards...

[–]Chipit[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, it's an ethnicity that practices a religion. It is possible to convert to Judaism, but highly discouraged. Sammy Davis Jr., a black man, famously did so. There are also many, many atheist Jews who never follow any religious teachings, but are still ethnic Jews and still favor their own kind over the rest of us (they call us "goy" which has a meaning like cattle).

Maybe the best way to think of it is like one of those Indian or Central American tribes that has their own religion, and pretty much nobody outside the tribe practices that religion, and even inside the tribe there are those who don't practice.

That is not a question nobody asks, that is the first question jewish people ask because it serves as an ad hominem attack. The implication is that he has nefarious reasons for pointing out jewish power and corruption and for that reason no one should pay any attention, and absolutly not consider if he is right.

As for why it is jewish people controling the majority of wealth and power, it has less to do with the religion and more to do with the intense nepotism jews have for each other. They don't hesitate to abuse any authority they have to help another jewish person out. No other group, except maybe gypsies, are so insular and nepotistic.

And the problem is not that they are jewish, as you claim. The problem is that they wield so much power so corruptly that it has very detrimental effects on society. They are by far the biggest contributors to wealth inequality. The biggest source of corruption in government. The biggest source of abuse from corporations. The biggest source of propaganda, censorship, social decline, etc. etc. etc.

It just happens to be that they are jewish. If they were pygmies then kanye would be calling out pygmies.

He has touched on it.

He said just that people with similar backgrounds are more likely to collude.

He used an example of if he were to set up an all black company so they could have a culturally black workspace that would be seen as progressive but when Jewish people do similar things no one is allowed to speak about it.

Not true, if Kanye said something like "black people aren't intelligent and can't create societies he still would of gotten cancelled.

What's that got to do with my comment?

I suspect Ye has not thought about this because it would require sophisticated arguments having to do with details of the faith and behavioral effects of that.

Kevin Macdonald has.

the main question

False. Safety first. Understanding motive might be of academic interest later, but it takes a backseat to the immediate avoidance of threat. It’s certainly not the victim’s burden.

Why would Kanye need to solve the puzzle for “why” any more than the person who chooses to sound the alarm on the correlation between pit bulls and violence?

Part of the challenge here is that the accusation has to do with manipulation of information. The crux of the issue isn't just "they did bad thing X", it's "when attempting to say they did bad thing X, you get bullied and censored". The messenger is vulnerable to this at the time of delivering the message, so unlike other issues it requires more sophisticated arguments to allow for a conversation to even begin.
