Maybe a small disclaimer could have helped clarify and discourage those comments. As to the previous post, arguably porn is not discussion so it doesn't belong in a "discussion forum". It's because of its graphic nature and also because it is used by spammers and trolls, that it requires a clear disclaimer that the conversation is in good nature.

British empire has been dead for a while. You might as well claim this is the true decline of the Roman empire, by what seems to be your definition of empire. The craze around the world is really communists trying to destroy all the countries that want to have free markets, because free markets will destroy communism eventually.
You might be confusing British with Western culture, in which case you could have something to argue about. Western culture has long legacy that goes back to Ancient Greece (maybe earlier), and it has been influenced by many other civilizations, for example math is heavily influenced by early Indian and Arab discoveries. These cultures and discoveries were also exported back to the rest of the world. Romans invented a standing army, but China discovered gun powder, now everyone has a standing army with guns. Your view is very naive, and your example of a single word that is also what currently people so obsessed about in America, is very telling you have a very narrow view of a small part of history.

A Beginners Guide to Nationalism. (Also applies to race/class/gender etc. BTW) by Robin in propaganda
I don't see that term reflecting anything about wealth. Nations are about laws. People do things differently because of culture, history, but in the end it's reflected in the country's laws. Being a nationalist basically means your politics supports laws written for and enforced by your own country. Anyone that travels around the world will have been in a country with backward laws that hurt their own people, and other countries which are lawless and can be controlled by external forces. Nationalism by itself is simple and has existed for hundreds of years. The only alternative at the moment is globalism, and we only have to look at the EU to see if that will work or not.

We'd have to be more specific on that example, I'm not sure if you excluded the physical attack or not. However, the point is whether the victim is suffering due to NYT's doxxing or the criminal that physically attacks you.
I would argue that the doxxing causes you to suffer to the extent it's a threat of physical harm (I'm granting this but I could still argue with no physical harm there should be no suffering, but maybe the threat of it is also justified).
What purpose would blaming NYT for your suffering achieve anyway (other than legal utility)? Suffering does have a utility, from an evolutionary perspective. The humans that never suffered at all, died because they didn't get out of harm's way. Only the ones that suffered passed on their genes, however those past humans could only blame suffering on physical threats. Early humans just had to fear the weather, wild animals, and dangerous humans that wanted to physically harm you. Blaming NYT for one's suffering is irrational, they have no direct control over one's mind which is literally what creates the suffering.
most human experience is manufactured in the subject's brain
most human experience is manufactured in the subject's brain
I think this is scientifically true. How else do you interact with the real world if not 100% through your own senses and ultimately through your own construct/model of your own senses?
Also your example includes physical pain, so let's say someone just gets banned and doxxed and no one follows through with physical threats, I'd still argue there's no need to suffer there. It sucks, and you have to do something about it, but no need to suffer while fixing the problem.
Only to the extent we confuse the word with physical pain. Unless someone is physically harming you, consider that suffering is only occurring as a process of your own brain. Consider PTSD, people who in the past experienced something horrible, but it haunts them in the present. We can understand that suffering, but it's irrational nonetheless because it only occurs in that person's brain, and if we knew how the brain works we could offer an instant fix, perhaps like uninstalling unwanted or malicious software on your computer.

Let me try and explain why learn to code (at least my perspective). If it's true that there is a pattern of information technologies connecting humans more and more - storytelling -> writing -> books -> printing press/newspaper -> telephone/radio -> TV -> Internet -> ??? ... Then programming might be a new paradigm just like reading/writing and grammar were back in the day when books started to become popular during the middle ages (not sure of exact date, but there was some point that everyone went from illiteracy to literacy).
Agreed. This means one's life is a product of one's own actions, and therefore blaming anyone else for one's suffering is irrational.
You can't be "right-wing" and feminist, unless you are extreme right-wing. Being conservative is about being an INDIVIDUAL. Feminism by definition is COLLECTIVISM. It destroys the individual. Feminism destroys your individual personhood and you take on the suffering of a whole group of people.

Yeah, I'm familiar but perhaps not in depth familiar with each one. So in summary you are saying those countries have a good balance of capitalism and socialism, and therefore they are doing well? I'll agree that is better than full socialism with no capitalism, and will look in depth at how different countries "combine" the two systems. I still think reusing terms is confusing, and it also doesn't make sense there was some conspiracy on the part of communist to change the term in some grand psy-op. I invoke occam's razor on that, the simplest explanation is the term never changed, but now people are using it differently and I think people should create a new term to distance themselves from the atrocities that were done by people who claimed to be socialists, big S, little s or whatever.

I also agree with "All of these are socialist ideas that exist in relative harmony with capitalist economies."
I can grant many capitalist cities around the world have fragments of what the Soviet Union aimed to have at full capacity. I would still argue those cities are suffering from these by paying too many taxes and then letting corrupt politicians take over those programs. This may even affect police and fire departments, but again, those are about keeping the general public safe so there is a free society (I'll add that in a perfect world government does not exist, and any kind of public safety is also taken care by private business, but no need to go full anarchy to prove that socialism is at best inefficient and at worse brings about total destruction).

I don't think your own definition of socialism will be that different than communism, but instead of defining it in simple terms and pointing at the difference, you would probably do the opposite, say it's complicated and has so much complexity and just fail to define the term. I'm not the one claiming it's a different definition because you claim it was some psy-op conspiracy but then fail to just clarify the term in simple terms. History gives us these simple terms I'm talking about, but apparently that was a huge conspiracy.
No, that is why there are different words for each. Anarchism is orthogonal to both. Libertarians and socialist are almost opposing concepts. One is individual freedom the other is top down decision making and centralization of power.
People in the Soviet Union called themselves socialists. I think what you are saying is trying to bend that word to fit a different definition. Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, talked about socialism as a means to communism. It's more likely this is a new branding of socialism you are talking about, but it suffers form the same problems regardless. The problem is that socialism has a "end state" as the central objective. It attempts to shoehorn society into a certain "vision". Capitalism and free markets does none of this, and instead defines things at the individual level in a way that decentralizes control and gives people freedom within a certain framework. Socialism requires centralization of decision making, someone has to decide this end vision and then dictate how it comes about.
Perhaps whatever theory you talk about, if it is that much different than what went on in the 20th century, should be called a different word.
You can't have Socialism AND a free society. It's not possible. You are advocating for a Totalitarian nightmare. There is no conspiracy, there is just badly informed people who are emotional and think socialism will help the poor. Thinking you can take care of poor people is patronizing and will only help elect evil people that want to take advantage of the control. We're seeing this literally right now. Look at Oregon segregating black people already because of these socialist thinking bullshit.
SOCIALISM is intrinsically tied to CAPITALISM. SOCIALISM is what keeps CAPITALISM civilized.
SOCIALISM is intrinsically tied to CAPITALISM. SOCIALISM is what keeps CAPITALISM civilized.
Wow, you need to study economy a lot more. You need to understand SOCIALISM = CONTROL. You can have taxes pay for things, that is not socialism, it's just having a government and a state that handles FORCE and keep the population SAFE, so that there is FREEDOM. Without police or fire departments it would be hard to have a free society. Socialism DOES NOT WANT A FREE SOCIETY. Please read more, we are approaching a critical time when people need to understand more about this. We will repeate Stalin and Hitler again because people think Socialism is good.

SF is a mismanaged disaster. At this point it seems the current administration hates homeless people and are trying to slowly kill them by keeping them dependent and at the same time letting them do whatever they want. Literally outside right now on my block, dozens of homeless people outside partying with music. At least 20 people interacting outside on the street, blocks away from downtown, and they have been doing it almost everyday during the quarantine (and before). Police know about this but don't care or can't do anything. For more than a decade they've been saying "we're doing this to help them" but they will stay there until they grow old, if they survive.

Control = Insecurity
Insecurity = Fear
Fear = Weakness
Strong minded people have no need to worry about what others think, as it has no effect. Weaklings fear the worst and so strive to control and manipulate those who they fear.

Literally everyone is mixed to some extent, if not in the past 100 years, then in the past 5000 years. Latin Americans are literally a mixed race that did not exist even 500 years ago. 'White' people are a melting pot of European races, many of which mixed with Middle Eastern and Asian people. What current day Americans think of "white" and "black" is a product of American culture over the past 200 years, and in my opinion the only reason skin color aligns is because people subconsciously label themselves as part of their preferred "team". In other words, in America, racial lines are self-enforced. People are perpetuating the racial divide (especially leftist Democrats) exactly along the cultural line (i.e. by shaming those who don't conform, i.e.i.e. Kanye West).
