An initial suspension is not that serious. Perler might tbe able to change its approaches and return. Amazon probably benefits from Parler. This is a very good reason to ban a social media platform:

“[W]e cannot provide services to a customer that is unable to effectively identify and remove content that encourages or incites violence against others."

Fuck Parler and others that do this.

They did not care when leftist politicians called for violence during the BLM protests though.

Big tech supported BLM through all the violence. They are on the same side. It's not the violence leftists and big tech object to, its the political positions that bother them. Facebook and twitter were both used by BLM to organize violence.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (10 children)

Because BLM protestors were not asked to be violent

What do you think animals are asking other animals to do when they advertize a riot? Bake cakes and fold origami?

Also, pedophiles and rapists (some with checkmarks) post specific and nonspecific death and rape threats against women on twitter/facebook/tumblr each day. A vast majority of them are allowed to stay up.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Try to be more specific.

Regarding random assholes who hate women and trans people - yes there are many who have social media accounts and are rately suspended unless they are reported to the admins.

Regarding the President of the US, he had 88 million Twitter followers and free publicity in the news media &c that helped him spread tens of thousands of lies, many of which were incitements to violence. He should be in jail, along with Senators and Republicans who have incited violence.

Philly’s main BLM Facebook group used burning buildings as their cover image to advertise for the May protests that quickly devolved into violence. They were specifically called out for it before it happened and sure enough, violence happened.

The suggestions to be violent were very heavy.

You just keep lying and we'll just keep ignoring you.

You don't know who 'we' are.

You use an image that is not proof of incitements to violence.

Peaceful BLM protests should continue.

It's all far more extreme than what Trump has said.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Trump should be tried and hanged for treason.

[–]jet199 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

See, inciting violence.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Having someone stand trial for treason is not violence. When found guilty, his punishment should fit the crime.

Mostly peaceful riots.

This is not about jail. It's about potential lawsuits

I wasn’t paying attention to Parler in the last week or two, but when I have looked at it, it’s like boomer tier conservative MSM and tweets from Republican politicians. It’s not exactly /pol.

      [–]FediNetizen 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Parler would be better off just self-hosting. They're more than large enough to have their own servers

I wonder what the difference in cost would be. It seems Amazon is the cheapest host, and offers other potential protections against attacks and outages, due to its size:

Amazon makes fat profits off of its AWS service. The benefit for bigger users is convenience and easy scaling, but especially for bigger clients you're definitely not saving any money.
