Queer is a slur. Stop using it unless you want to use it to describe yourself.

[–]bobbobbybob 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

fuck off. Free speech is free speech and you are in the wrong fucking place if you want to police other people's speech, you unrelenting faggot.

If you actually read my comment you would have realized that I'm a queer.

"Queer" is a much better identifier, since it's more broad than LGBT, which is just an acronym. Furthermore, the repurposing of slurs is a common practice within minority groups — which you would know if you actually cared about minorities, which you don't. Liberals simply care about power and control.

Please, just try reading other people's comments before replying with ignorant garbage like this? Your toxic wokeness makes me sick — it's one of the reasons your 'community' left me. Liberals like you just want to control us — yall just want to take away our rights under the guise of equality!

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (15 children)

I read what you write and it still doesnt change the fact that it is still commonly used as a slur and you shouldnt be using it unless directed at yourself or people who have given you explicit permission.

What do you mean when you say you are queer? Do you mean homosexual?

[–]bobbobbybob 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

you didn't read TAM's comment. He's as queer as they come, and can use any language he fucking likes.

Fuck, I hate language control freaks like you. Fuck off

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

He doesnt get to call everyone a queer if they don't like it.

[–]bobbobbybob 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

yes, he does, and you are impotent to do anything about it other than bitch like the little cuck you are.

[–]C3P0 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

Isn't the n-word commonly used as a slur? Are black people not allowed to say it anymore because it hurts your feelings?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Absolute non sequiter. If a black person doesnt want to be called the n word even by other blacks that's their right is it not? It has absolute nothing to do with me and my feelings because im not black and that word doesnt carry any weight with me. However the words queer and faggot have been used against me and telling someone not to call the entire homosexual community queer is fair. Like I said before, if they want to use those words for themselves then that's fine. They shouldnt go around assuming that everyone is ok with it though.

[–]C3P0 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Absolute non sequiter.

The queer word and the n-word are both relevant to freedom of speech. Don't be oblique.

If a black person doesnt want to be called the n word even by other blacks that's their right is it not?

The US constitution does not guarantee such right. Black people call black strangers the n-word every day. If you are not from the US, what country are you from where calling someone the n-word is a crime? Probably a fictitious country or an alien planet but surprise me.

My experience in the US is that faggot is a word of contention while queer or gay are usually not.

If you want to be dense that's up to you.

[–]C3P0 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

I half think you are a bot trying to pass the Turing test, but why don't you answer the question I posed? I rephrased it below.

In what country do citizens have the right not to be called the n-word?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

There's nothing to say to you. You take subjective experience and apply it as onjective. Learn how not to do that.

[–]C3P0 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

You said, "[queer] is still commonly used as a slur." How would you know that it is commonly used as a slur other than from a subjective experience? Did you read a scientific journal?

What is 227 - 1?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Queer = not straight and cis

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

If thats your definition of it then it doesn't apply at all to call all homosexuals queer now does it?

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Homosexuals aren't straight.

[–]jackjumpover 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

Queer is a slur. Stop using it.

it is my observation that homosexuals cant seem to decide what is acceptable to them and what is not acceptable to them. For example, one time i made a comment to gay person where i commented something about his "lifestyle", and he about came unscrewed telling me that being gay is not a lifestyle and that being gay is something that you are born with..

ok, i said to him, but why dont you take that debate up with out magazine first, i suggested.

http://out.com/lifestyle

and then, regarding your claim that the term "queer" is a slur, i slightly disagree and i am fairly well versed in these topics since i have grown up around quite a few queer men, and they regularly call each other "queer"..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queer_Nation

this thing where you say that "queer" is a slur reminds me a bit of how black people dont like to be called the "N" word, but for real for real black folks use the word frequently..

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

Nothing you said changes the fact that unless you are using it to describe yourself or have explicit permission to by someone to use it in regards to them, you shouldnt be using the term.

[–]jackjumpover 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

sure thing, faggot, gotcha.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (4 children)

Do you know how that word came into usage for homosexuals? It's because faggot is a bundle of sticks. Bundles of sticks were used to burn homosexuals at the stake.

[–]bobbobbybob 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

wikipedia says you are not only a faggot, but you are a retarded one too, who doesn't even bother to research the nonsense you repeat like a parrot.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faggot_(slang)

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

That's a retarded myth.

The word faggot has been used in English since the late 16th century as an abusive term for women, particularly old women,[7] and reference to homosexuality may derive from this,[6][8] as female terms are often used with reference to homosexual or effeminate men (cf. nancy, sissy, queen). The application of the term to old women is possibly a shortening of the term "faggot-gatherer", applied in the 19th century to people, especially older widows, who made a meager living by gathering and selling firewood.[8]

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It's not a myth.
