I was checking out SRD for the first time in forever today. Holy shit, that sub is hyper pozzed now. Mods have stickied all over that TERFs will be immediately banned. A top post is discussing and defending the lgbt sub for going private in SUPPORT of Aimmee Challenor and the sub is defending them. Also, why does a sub of less than a million subscribers need 30+ mods?

It has nothing to do with whether it's a good thing or not. The only reason terfs are opposed to it is because they literally just hate men so much that they can't stand the idea of a man pretending to be a woman. You are playing into their hands by accepting the premise that all of this is the result of "fragile users needing protection". The reality is that the censorship is about maintaining a narrative that the majority of people would speak out against. Usually because they find it abhorrent or dangerous. I think I pretty much became a "right wing extremist" even though none of my views really changed just because I basically stopped watching TV when I was 18 because I was too busy, with my media consumption basically limited to reading books on the train and watching some DVDs of old shows. Then I wake up one day to find the whole world has gone insane.

I probably became a little more pro-small government, and a little more pro-life, but it's hard to tell how much of that was being pushed out of the left and opening my ears to what the right has to say, or just being and adult and getting some life experience under my belt.

But my values and principles are all exactly where they were when I was in college and considered myself very left wing.

I dont think porn leads to rape. I think we have a huge problem because we don't distinguish kiddie porn from raping kids. This gives the (((medi))) enough leeway to minimize the crimes of child rapists by simply reporting that they are pedophiles and claiming their charges are for kiddie porn. And it gives people a false sense that child rape is being stopped by the FBI because once in a while they bust a child porn ring where it's just a bunch of pedos trading porn they found on line.

Naturally child porn should be illegal because it CAN be used to coerce children into sexual acts. But we should not elevate it to the same status as molestation or rape by claiming that it always leads to it. That causes harm and you absolutely dont need that claim in order to make it illegal.

Bullshit. Child porn is illegal so you are already selecting for pedos who are willing to break the law. On top of that no one will admitt to watching kiddie porn the way they do regular porn which has been so normalized you would be considered weird if you said you didn't. This makes good faith comparisons impossible. Your claims are pure propaganda and fly in the face of logic. It's like saying shoes lead to murder. Its convoluted nonsense. People who rape adults also watch porn, that does not mean it was the porn that made them do it.

Sure, but at the same time, not all nudity is pornography. nude drawings of children can be wholesome and tastefully drawn as part of a larger story, lets say its a drawn story about motherhood and a child runs out of the bath making the house a mess. It's comedic, not pornographic, and can show nudity but in a clearly non-sexual nature. I don't think the people making our laws and the legal system who follows them are nuanced enough to differentiate between the two. Case in point family law being the shitshow it is.
