Scroll down to Kathleen McDeavitt's response. She tore this article to shreds with a full list of citations. I don't know who she is but she's my hero for the day.

However, it is worth highlighting two key concepts. First, everyone has a gender identity.

False.

health care that has been shown to decrease dramatically high rates of suicide and depression for TGD youth.

Also false. They give 2 citations for that sentence but idk how many times we need to see the actual data that indicates a net zero or worse outcome after transitioning.

Recent studies have shown that transitioning has no impact on suicidal ideation. That narrative that you must trans the kids or they'll kill themselves is a complete fabrication.

The only studies I've seen to push a "positive outcome" narrative will only look at people like 1-3 years after the transition but any longer study shows that it gets worse after the honeymoon period ends.

The only studies I've seen on "gender-affirming care", that showed consistently positive outcomes, were conducted:

  • during the COVID-19 lockdowns (when suicidal ideation was at an all-time high for everyone)

  • through social media (known to be correlated with several mental illnesses)

  • on active members of the LGBTQ+ community (a wretched hive of gaslighting and love-bombing)

  • who knew the purpose of the questions being asked (giving them an incentive to self-censor)

Makes sense. All the teens getting it now probably aren't having the regret kick in until they're in their 20s or 30s and seeing their peers do things and realising that they can't because of what they've done to themselves in some cases. For others it might be the realisation of complications and lifelong consequences and understanding what that means.

I can't imagine it'll be pretty when it does come along and honestly I feel pretty sad for the ones that were pushed onto a medical pathway by a doctor they trusted who have to live with the results. Even worse for the ones with botched results.

I suspect that simply getting people counseling is going to show an immediate decrease in the suicide rate. That's about the limit of what I think you should do out the gate and for people under 18. If a kid is coming around telling you they really wish they were the opposite sex I very much doubt that is the underlying issue. There's probably something else going on that has led them to think that.

I don't see that there was any "reframing" going on here, unless it's the translation into jargon of the typical "give them what they demand, or else the consequences of your refusal will be your fault" language.

And who first started threatening to "punish caregivers" if they didn't bow down before TQ+ dogma?

This is so tiresome. You wanna maul and castrate children? You do that. Whatever. I ain't gonna stop you, because in time the problem will solve itself, just like with lobotomies.
