I'm convinced most of this is people trying to set boundaries against people in their own alphabet community. Sorry, I'm aromantic, I can't fuck you, please don't call me transphobic, kinda thing.

I also suspect nobody in this sub is an actual adult, and they're all terminally online. They seem to have no concept of actual norms of human behaviour.

Definitely, since most of the "queer" movement could seem to boil down to "the woman wants to shut down an unwanted admirer and knows 'queer' sounds enough like being gay that nerdy Melvin will think it's the same thing and back off, but hunky Chad will know it's all word salad and she's DTF."
