I like anime. It's a way to tell interesting stories that CGI or live action (or a combination of the two) either wouldn't allow at all, or that no studio would take a chance on making without the guarantee of a hefty return.

But I don't really talk about my interest much. Because as soon as I do, I can see the exact moment that people connect "grown man watching cartoons" with "cartoons are for children" and get the inevitable "is he one of those weirdos" line of thought. And that's because of these fuckers, who mistakenly believe that the current social climate has validated their particular flavor of bullshit for public display.

I aalso do this same thing. And I only ever ask people who I suspect watch it. And that’s usually gamers…and asians.

It also really doesn't help that a disturbingly large chunk of the anime industry deliberately caters to creepy adult males because they spend alot of money on bodypillows and anime girl figurines

The creepy weebs never seem to realize (or care) that their own creepy and cringey behavior actual drives people away from the anime fandom. I have friends who like anime but keep quiet about liking anime and wouldn't touch the fandom with a 150-ft pole. They also avoid anime conventions like the plague.

All in all it seems the fandom has degenerated into a hugbox where these creepy fuckers encourage one another to be as cringey and depraved as AF.
