This entire comment so neatly encapsulates the truth that this is nothing but "I'm not like the other basic bitches" bullshit performed by cog-in-the-machine white girls who aren't attractive enough for OF or talented enough for Tiktok to supply their required attention fix.

This, and the 'asexual' thing. The 'asexual' at my work is an obese internet addict who only ever talks about gaming.

The condescending tone here is just - chef’s kiss - soooo on the nose for these twats.

"we've ALWAYS been here," which is why they demand something nobody's done in history before 2016

and "they" is for cowards, it still uses the normativeTM 26 letters: it's ȝe/ȝer or nothing

The tyranny of the retarded.

When you alternate pronouns it sounds like you are talking about different people, that would be like if I said my name is Tom/Dick/Harry.

I hate pronouns.

This pronoun shit is a massive ballache because I keep noticing people whose work I’ve enjoyed have gone over to the dark side. The latest one I noticed was Deviant Ollam, the security/cybersecurity/penetration tester, whose lectures I’ve enjoyed for years (his elevator key lecture is brilliant). I went to watch one of his latest lectures and saw he had put “he/they” on his first PowerPoint slide, and all respect I had for him evaporated. Not only had he decided to pander to the mob, he outed himself as a genderspecial too - and how the fuck does “he/they” work anyway?

I've seen this BS in a book too. It was one of these preview things at the end of the actual novel and the author consistently switched from she to they every sentence. The scene got even more confusing when there were more than one they/thems speaking with a normal she. Dropped the series after that to save me a headache.

That's awful, who besides an alphabet disciple is going to plow through that . The they they/them shit is bad enough on its own. On Reddit people are always going on about how singular they has always been a thing, but the context is what makes it make sense or not and the way they want it used makes it muddled. Of course they don't give a shit though

LOL it's so telling to watch FinnKimbrel (of course it's a Finn) descend into incoherence and anger by the end. I do remember Ellen's 'coming out' letter referred to herself as 'non-binary' but her transition has been pretty binary. I think the media is referring to her as 'he' because transactivists would perceive 'they' as diminishing.

The whole 'multi-pronoun' thing is such a mess. At my work, the two women who demand 'she/they' pronouns refer to each other as 'they' and get called 'she' by everyone else. Randomly interchanging pronouns is completely confusing. The grammatical function of pronouns is to ease comprehension, not to complicate it.

I think the media is referring to her as 'he' because transactivists would perceive 'they' as diminishing.

Well, that's the whole point. If you do this, you have a reason to be angry no matter what other people do, meaning you have a reason to claim anyone is oppressing you and thus, you have power over everyone!

Hence the constantly shifting goalposts and unwillingness to define the rules of engagement...

by 2024 the hivemind of Twitter teenyboppers will have decreed that "they/them," "trans," and drag are all Bad (1. used to deny women aren't "she/her," 2. somehow implies some women are different from the others, and 3. mockery of those women-who-are-in-way-different-from-other-women)

and they'll still hate masc gay guys

or they'll just go back to being TERFs like in 2012 (presumably building off Amber Heard's "she should've hit him harder" fandom)

[–]LyingSpirit472 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

That's too unlikely. It seems like by that time they'll go right out and say pronouns as a whole are bad (because to use a pronoun means genericizing people and denying they are special, meaning you must exclusively use their name or nickname they give themselves.

[–]OuroborosTheory 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

didn't the MLA style guideline or whatever say that the word "the" was bad, using "the French" as an example

What an insufferable twat! I can't wait for this pronoun bullshit to end.

I was in a production zoom meeting the other day and no one had pronouns accept a he/they.

No surprise when her turn to talk came that it was obviously an insecure women's voice.

Just make it easy and base the page on relevance. For example, Ellen Page was a famous actress, so her page should reflect that gender. Elliot Page is nobody and we should not even have a page for him because he has done nothing worth a Wikipedia entry.

[–]OuroborosTheory 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

just ask the teenyboppers that, if Paige has always been a man mistaken for a female since the birth "assignment," if that makes Juno one long mpreg movie
