Nice, another example of how minorities can't be shown as people like everyone else, but have to be elevated as paragons of virtue above all others.

I wouldn't say either of them are necessarily bullies. One is a fairly typical queen bee character who even then manages to experience some growth throughout the series. And the other admittedly is somewhat an arsehole, but that's really only in retaliation to Wednesday being an arsehole. Which is partly the point of the series, that the town is stuck in this cycle of retaliatory actions between the supernatural characters and the regular humans.

Just remember "black kids can't be bullies" is racist. And if you really want to twist it you can claim it's a white supremacist viewpoint because only a KKK white supremacists would take issue at the idea of an inferior black person bullying their betters can only be explained as white supremacist racism. Especially since it's totally fictional and has no bearing on real life.

At least this is how I handle these people irl.

Following that line of logic actually gave me a bit of a headache. Which means it's perfectly convoluted bullshit for the intended audience!

One Twitter user named Jack wrote: 'Tim Burton casts black people finally and makes them pilgrim villains. Y'all can't tell me that man isn't insufferable and racist as hell in real life.'

Another Twitter user said she was glad the show stars a Latina, but condemned the portrayal of the black characters.

'Don't get me wrong…I love Jenna Ortega and that she's playing Wednesday but one thing I hate about this show is that why did they make ALL the black people in this show terrible people,' the disgruntled Twitter user wrote. 'Like how did Netflix see nothing wrong with this? I hate Tim Burton's racist self.'

Another tweeted: 'Why is the the Black girl in Wednesday's school an aggressive bully tho? hmmm Tim Burton is a known racist..... no surprises there.....'

Well, hell. That's three whole people on Twitter. I see the tides have finally turned on Tim Burton. His career is officially over.

hey, they're like a WaPo/Vanity Fair-tier headline every week about how "the tides are finally turning and Amber Heard is finally able to speak" and it's just citing the same three perpetually-online teenyboppers

It's not like early teen black girls are the worst bullies as they are the biggest kids in school until the boys get bigger and slap them down.

They can only be shown as doctors and lawyers. Whites on the other hand need to be gangsters and terrorists and Nazis.

Give them the reports of the free blacks in America that also owned slaves and watch their heads spin. Not super common but it definitely happened. Really erodes the narrative.

Course slavery was horrid regardless of who is doing it but you can't really go off so hard on the racial equity and reparations shtick when you have documented evidence of black people enslaving other black people and white abolitionists trying to put a stop to it.

Granted that whole era anyone you pick would be considered a racist by modern sensibilities anyway. Loads of abolitionists still thought that black people should be kept separate or they were inferior or whatever even if they recognized the evils of slavery and the rights of the slaves to be free. How shit like Liberia happened.

Got all the neo-segregationalists back now trying to fan the flames of racial strife again. Same old tune different verse, you may not get along with your neighbor but don't fucking let that prejudice pass on to your kids generation. Let them come up with their own reasons to hate each other.

No, no, they've already done the mental gymnastics to use whitey as the real villain for those.

It's all about the "when you take into account how much sexual assault slave owners did combined with how much immigration from Europe happened in the late 1800s/early 1900s in America, it is significantly more likely that the average black person is descended from slave owners than the average white person" now.

This is a funny display, because a christmas show was just cancelled in Denmark for being racist against blacks for casting 3 white children as bullies against a black child.

It seems... whites are racists no matter the situation

In the world of CRT, there are no winners….except for the grifters.

[–]Dragonerne 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Everyone but whites win in CRT

Not true, anyone that is inconvenient to the narrative loses, that includes West Africans (who outperform Whites at school and will overtake economically, in the way that motivated immigrants seem to do in the west) and all flavours of Asian. Even the ADOS lose out when it is decided that their skin is too pale, and dark skinned ADOS lose out if they express political views that are heterodox. It’s a philosophy that will happily throw anyone under the bus, in search of those grants, employment positions and publishing fees.

West Africans outperform Whites because of CRT

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No they don’t. They outperform white in school because the parents give a damn, hire tutors and have massively high expectations- everything Asian parents do. West Africans are way more conservative and family oriented too, and generally do not go in for claiming victimhood.

I taught at a school with lots of west African families and their kids were the most polite and some of the hardest working.

Wrong, but maybe your racist bias had something to do with it.
