Drew Barrymore was branded racist over a TikTok clip of herself enjoying a rainstorm - after woke killjoys claimed she'd copied a trend dubbed 'black men frolicking.' The accusation comes from an angry fellow TikTok user with the handle @amushroomblackly.
She said Barrymore was an example of a colonizer 'who disrespect and dismiss the boundaries that black creators have set' because the video resembled a 'frolicking' trend started by black TikTokers earlier this year.

In Barrymore's video that she posted to her 6.5 million followers, she jubilantly walks around in pouring rain with a broad smile, exclaiming 'whenever you can, go out into the rain! Do not miss the opportunity.'

Shortly after the actress posted her video, amushroomblackly posted a bizarre response addressing Barrymore directly, saying 'you and I both know you are capable of enjoying the rain, frolicking freely, without filming it and posting it to TikTok.' She went even further and said Barrymore 'cosigned people who just go out of their way to disrespect and dismiss the boundaries that black creators have set'

First, all the individuals in the story are retarded. Second, if that’s the sort of thing you feel the need to call out as racist, you might actually have run out of things to call racist, or you might want to examine your sensitivity settings.

The narcissism. "Umm excuse me, I explicitly said you aren't allowed to do that!". Ok, and? Who appointed you judge, jury and executioner of TikTok? "B-but the white people are copying us", yes that happens when you put something out into the public sphere and people think it's cool. It gets copied. Sometimes the originator of a trend gets little to no credit for it and the traditional media giants will end up commodifying it and taking all the money going for it. That's a tale as old as time and race doesn't factor into it. Plenty of artists have had their style copied, commodified and found themselves pushed out of their own niche by companies that can afford to spend far more on promotion and marketing. Shit happens. Hell, sometimes they'll end up being accused of being the copies. This woman basically says nothing, she spends two minutes saying absolutely nothing. She doesn't even know how she wants to end each sentence as she starts it.

I don't really care too much about Barrymore's video. At worst it just comes across as a celebrity stating the obvious as if it's something profound, same as it ever was really. I'm guessing she probably lives in California, which was going through a drought, so I can understand why she'd be happy about a bit of rain.

I didn’t think of the drought, so I might have been a little bit harsh with regards to Barrymore dancing in the rain. I’m willing to walk that back a bit.

Um, acktually sweaty, the native americans were Black originally, but whiteness was invented in 1618 and one year later they all were weakened into whiteness after slavery came in, and anyway forcing them from their own land and putting them on the worst land in the continent, then just killing them when it turned out it had oil is nowhere near as bad a crime as when they made people work.
