Let's be fair: what could be done to stop socks? Saidit doesn't have literal magic to detect people like reddit does, and even reddit has only been able to do that for the last couple of years. No matter how many times socks alts are banned, it'll only result in another one popping up and using up a username. It's better to err on the side of caution and not risk banning innocent users over circumstantial evidence.

It's not hard to take down content that violates the rules or could get the site in trouble. But even mainstream platforms cannot keep away ban evaders. What might work is not giving them the reactions they're hoping to get.

A single post called "socks" can become a long long long ongoing thread. First let it pass off the front page unnoticed, then a few days later bring trusted users in to discuss his latest aliases and nonsense. Over time there would still only be the one single long thread to find the latest trustworthy speculation and/or verification on socks' latest aliases. The same can be done, a single thread for each problem user. This could even be made a private sub, but I prefer an open book. Further, each subject could face their accusers, if we were uncertain or were compassionate. I don't give a shit about socks, but to be fair I don't know all of his alts.
