Let's be fair: what could be done to stop socks? Saidit doesn't have literal magic to detect people like reddit does, and even reddit has only been able to do that for the last couple of years. No matter how many times socks alts are banned, it'll only result in another one popping up and using up a username. It's better to err on the side of caution and not risk banning innocent users over circumstantial evidence.

It's not hard to take down content that violates the rules or could get the site in trouble. But even mainstream platforms cannot keep away ban evaders. What might work is not giving them the reactions they're hoping to get.

If you're unsure, make a loud dramatic post like this one, or quietly bring it to the attention of proven trusted users via a post in /s/SaidItCommunity. A single post called "socks" can become a long long long ongoing thread. First let it pass off the front page unnoticed, then a few days later bring trusted users in to discuss his latest aliases and nonsense. Over time there would still only be the one single long thread to find the latest trustworthy speculation and/or verification on socks' latest aliases. The same can be done, a single thread for each problem user. This could even be made a private sub, but I prefer an open book. Further, each subject could face their accusers, if we were uncertain or were compassionate. I don't give a shit about socks, but to be fair I don't know all of his alts.

Innocent users without much history, personality, or common sense won't be a terrible loss and are not prevented from starting new accounts, wherein they can plea and prove their case if necessary.

Keep swatting at the pigeons and eventually they might stop shitting on your balcony.

Obviously CP would be taken down immediately and that user would be banned. But in the case of socks alts I don't think it's fair to make everyone prove their innocence that they're not socks, and if he's as persistent as you say it's no different than dealing with the Americans bot.

I also don't trust that you can pick socks out. People seem to think every single leftist on this site MUST be a socks alt. In reality I think the libs are just so cultish that it's hard to tell them apart. But many of those "socks alts" do have slightly different opinions and behaviors. Even if "everyone knew" it's socks, that's still not enough to prove it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the anti-American bot has learned to avoid spamming my posts, as I always report them. I said early on that we should just let it go under one good name and at least have everyone be aware of that name. One of them was particularly apt. Also, with a consistent name, there surely would be a way to automate a comment-deleting script.

I think dicknipples may indeed be socks, but there's no grounds to ban him without proof, simply because I suspect him. It'll have to wait until he causes trouble, and then he'd get banned whether he's socks or not.
