I like it a lot, but SaidIt is not a happy place.

LazerFalkor, saiditter for 1 day, you might like to see the origins of the current logo(s) 4 years ago: https://infogalactic.com/info/SaidIt_branding_gallery

Getting anything done around here is near impossible as the owner is rarely here and doesn't care about improving the place.

I recently discovered SaidIt and was excited to find a platform that reminds me of the old Reddit. It's refreshing to have a space that doesn't censor content or impose strict rules on posting. Although the atmosphere may not be perfect at the moment, I'm eager to contribute and help the community in any way I can. It would be great to have an environment that resembles the thoughtful, nuanced discussions that were common on Reddit between 2009-2013 ish. During that time, individuals from all political backgrounds engaged in constructive conversations that avoided the echo chamber effect that plagues many platforms today.

Although the atmosphere may not be perfect at the moment

It has been better. And in the early days there was optimism and hope for better things. The owner refuses to let this community self-manage and thus there's no ownership stakes for the users to keep it great or bother doing anything other than leach off the "free" service. At present it's still the best option I'm aware off. I've tried to facilitate alt options and find competent and trustworthy I.T. folks to start decentralized Lemmy (Reddit-like), Movim (Facebook/Messenger-like), PeerTube, etc. instances for our communities to migrate to before, during, and/or after times of crisis - or when this mostly 2013 software (last Reddit open-source release) no longer works. But none have stepped up.

Come on bro. Lighten up.

Why?

[–]BISH 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

Because, letting your anger and disillusionment affect someone else's enthusiasm is bad form.

Maybe the new guy will affect change, because there's no history of conflict. Why sabotage that?

There's no hope of affecting change here.

Wasting hope and energy is bad form.

Regardless, we're PMing productively.

The ship is still floating, while most competitors have sunk.

Not all change is positive.

Not all stagnancy is healthy.

Impressive work

You too can help make Saidit a happy place

I'd be happier if shills left SaidIt alone, socks.

[–]dicknipples 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Exactly what a shill would say.

Saidit's motto: "say your truth"

That's not: "keep others from saying their truth", is it?

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

* liar shills

The motto is not "say your bullshit".

[–]dicknipples 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The motto is not "say your bullshit".

As this applies to you, that means you'll leave Saidit? You've tried desperately to promote alternative websites.

The motto is not, "say your truth [unless Carsmell disagrees with you]"
