Wow...it literally says in the rules they remove opposing opinions. Just...wow.

There is a separate debate space for that: s/gcdebatesqt

[–]Questionable 11 insightful - 3 fun11 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

Right. Because 'welcome' means 'go away'. We'll be 'Critical of Gender' someplace else. Someplace that doesn't ban people for their opinions or contributions. Preferably someplace that doesn't try to corral you into a side forum, and isn't ran by radical feminist that think being critical of genders means 'safe space for woman, specifically lesbians.'

Fairly certain that s/debatealtright/ would not recoil in fear of such topics, in fact, I'm certain they would welcome the debate.

Right. Which is why they openly challenge you to debate. Because they will use your facts for their agenda and rhetoric, in order to abuse statistics to propagate xenophobia and racism in every space they can. And like the cowards they are, they will talk about this openly.

To be honest. I was just parroting your own ɯords back at you, to try and ga̷̹̎in more understa̷̹̎nding on the matter. Tha̷̹̎nk you for your insight.

I personally don't feel great about excluding actual honest debate from the main GC sub, but it was absolutely a problem on Reddit when uninformed newcomers would post the same tired arguments & talking points, and derail the sub to focus on "whataboutism", men's problems or trans problems, etc.

I don't think it's a question of being above criticism, but it is a question of numbers. When you're in the minority, you have to put up some walls.

Wow, GCdebatesQT has moved to Saidit too? I saw they too got deleted during the last purge. Awesome! Subscribed!

Just like trans forums remove so called 'terf' rhetoric. Unless a forum is made for debate, its usually safe to consider it an 'echo chamber' of the group's opinions. This happens for many, if not most, perspectives. For better or for worse.

Actually no. This doesn't happen. It's telling that you're so used to it that you assume everyone else uses censorship by default, though.

      [–]comradeconradical 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

haha "this doesn't happen" ok then bud :)

It doesn't take a genius to notice this occurs in many spaces, and to deny it is just to be ignorant of a glaringly obvious internet phenomenon. Check out any political space.

      [–]Chipit[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Check out any political "space" (whatever that means) that you are accustomed to. Of course they censor! It's because the central ideology is weak. If you start to consider the topic objectively then the whole house of cards will come tumbling down.

If you can't "punch a nazi" then you accept they have a right to speak, which means they might say something worth hearing, which means you should consider what they say, which means you might be wrong about something. Whatever else you might do, you cannot actually consider the issues. Violence is preferable to thought.

The issue of the Left refusing to debate and using censorship instead is discussed at length in this excellent piece: https://newdiscourses.com/2020/07/woke-wont-debate-you-heres-why/

lol what are you even going on about

I'm not advocating FOR echo chambers, I'm saying they exist.

Obviously nuanced debate is the best way to develop well informed opinions through seeing both sides of an argument. No one is disputing that.

      [–]Questionable 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Right. Unless you are male. Then I am informed you are explicitly not welcome there, because of your gender.

" If you're feeling extra ass hurt about not being invited into a women's space where they want to discuss things that affect them, then take a step back and go find something more productive with your time."

Because only lesbians are allowed to be critical of gender roles, no men allowed. Men can not be friends. They are to be outcast and insulted. Especially if they use critical thinking skills in the gender critical sub, where you are explicitly told not to be criti̶cal. And for some reason are told that using the terms 'cross dressing, or 'trans' are slurs and will get you banned. In the sub that is agai̶nst tr̵̓̔ans people.

I'm sorry, I'm not insane enough to follow rules, set out fo̵r me by people who can't even define what it means to be 'gender critical'. I don't eat paste. I don't sniff glue. I understand that two plus two equals four. Pass, no thank you!͜ don't invite people into your closed community under the guise of friendship, where the general public is clearly no̵t welcome.

Nice echo chambre you've got there, buddy. I suggest to keep it to yourself...
