Omg yes, the userbase on this site outside of the LGB and GC subs is a dumpster fire of neo nazi trolls and professional a**holes! It blows my mind that the idea that lesbians only want other women is on the same level of social ostracization as Neo Nazis 😩

Everyone should have seen this coming when "punch a TERF" was seen on the same level as "punch a nazi."

At the very least Saidit culture centers around debate and has no downvote button, so I do see comments that disagree and present evidence and refutations based on more than just feelings. It feels like people are more willing to have actual conversations here compared to most places online. That said humans will always be susceptible to confirmation bias, victim complexes, and other weaknesses.

In this age of heightened internet censorship I am kind of grateful that people can openly talk about controversial topics here. While I won't be aligning myself with any extremist ideologies any time soon I think people have grown very thin skinned in recent years. We're all just talking past one other instead of with one another. Nowadays it's all about farming internet points and views and "winning" arguments and using silencing and intimidation tactics. It leads to false senses of superiority and security that allow resentment to grow.

If people really want to combat whatever evil they believe is in the world, it's not enough to just tell people to shut up or deplatform them. In fact it often makes fighting harmful beliefs harder. It's ridiculous that lesbians, gays, and bisexuals have been ousted from their own communities by self-identified queer and trans people. All ranting aside, lesbians definitely need our own spaces outside of Saidit.

It would be nice to have our own website like what r/femaledatingstrategy did. I heard gender critical was working on something.
