Damn, I wonder how all the TRAs who were trying to blame this on TERFs are going to spin this now?

And I really wonder what his motive was now. Did one of the women at the club reject him? I really hope they're not going to try to keep this story all hush hush now like they did with the Dana Rivers trial.

It could just be a desperate attempt to escape hate crimes charges, which wouldn't surprise me in the least - but it's been fascinating watching both sides leap to conclusions without waiting for any details to emerge. Social media really has created a huge divide in human relations in the west.

I think you will find that anyone who says they are trans is trans. I mean it's what we've been told for years. Very angrily. And told no-one would pretend to be trans in order to get away with a crime. It never happens. Only right-wing reactionaries would ever imagine such a scenario. Because they hate trans people.

I am very sorry for the people that died and their families who are grieving them. It's fucked up that they died and fucked up that their loss is part and parcel of this fucking circus. But I think that started the minute their deaths were announced and the TRAs immediately jumped to blaming the LGBA, JK Rowling, anyone who is concerned about child safe guarding at drag events marketed to children, etc. So I have to confess that I'm also now just waiting to see how this 'revelation' will obviously be dismissed by people who have angrily shouted about anyone who says they are trans being trans.

(And I'm not saying Aldrich isn't just using this as a defence tactic. That could very well be the case and tbh, it would be remiss of defence lawyers to not use it, considering that their job is to minimise consequences for their client. But whether or not Aldrich really does identify as an NB or not, the next round of TRA hypocrisy will be very revealing.)

Both this and the Pulse shooting had very weird cross talk about the motives of the shooter. There was talk of Mateen, the Pulse killer, at first being a closeted gay man and there were even interviews with a guy who claimed to have had sex with him. I attended a ceremony where the speaker said that Mateen was driven by society to hate himself and his sexuality, and so had lashed out by carrying out the killings. The FBI dismissed these theories however. Apparently Mateen did cheat on his wife, but only with other women.

His connection to Islamic fundamentalist terrorism was definitely true, but some have even wondered if he targeted Pulse specifically due to the clientele. He apparently typed "Orlando clubs" into a search engine shortly before doing the deed, though a lot of gay bars will be designated as such when you make searches like that. There was the possibility, however, that those at the Pulse bar were unfortunate enough to simply be the most convenient target.

What does not change in either case is that innocent people were horrifically murdered. Probably the most haunting "WHy Did he Do It?" shooting for me is still Sandy Hook. All I see is the haunted, wide eyes of the shooter, and apparently he destroyed nearly all the evidence of what his motives were.

I found the whole saga fascinating. The right trying to deny the sexuality of the victims and focusing on the Islam connection, the left rushing to praise Islam and deny any connection and entirely focused on the genderosexualphobia aspect.

He had already changed his name a few years ago, so there may already have been signs of some kind of identity disturbance. And then there was the bomb threat last year.

I mean if I'd grown up with everyone knowing my dad was a pornstar known as Dick Delaware I'd probably change my name too.

That fact came out after my post.

But yeah, his whole family history sounds chaotic, so who knows what his motive is going to turn out to be. People on subs like AGB have been assuming that he's a right-winger, but what if he turns out to be an angry NB incel who hoped to kill someone who'd rejected him?

But gee, I thought no one could ever pretend to be trans to get away with crimes? Maybe he is "pretending" to be NB, but by TRA logic that's not actually possible. If the only requirement for being NB or Trans is identifying as such, then him claiming to be NB means that's just what he is now.

So either TRAs can admit that self-id is and always was a terrible idea or they can follow their own rules and honor this guy's "identity". Cuz I'm sick of their hypocrisy. They're always screaming how "misgendering" is lItErAl ViOlEnCe, yet they so often seem to be first in line to misgender dudes like this or the big fake tits shop teacher or Yaniv.

I also find it funny that somehow identifying as trans should lower the possible punishment. So are the trans actually the most oppresed minority ever, which is always at risk of being murdered or actually a privileged class thriving on its made-up victimhood?

Not only that, but they get to be placed in women's prisons which are generally lower security and they get the run of the place.

It could just be a desperate attempt to escape hate crimes charges

Why would you shoot up a gay club without wanting hate crime charges in the first place, though?
