Yeah for a bit I was afraid that Saidit had been struck down by Keffals too.

No, they just have 90-day SSL certificates and the last one expired on the 7th, apparently without a new one at the ready.

Any Californians here? We just had the heatwave-from-hell where temps climbed to 115 F (that’s 46 C), in September! Made me wonder (truly) how people handle temps like this in desert environments like Arizona, etc.? If you’re from a desert place, does it get cooler at night?

Any tips for handling extreme heat without going insane? I know I can google that, but I’d like to know about people’s real-life experiences.

Not in Cali, thank goodness, and I hope things have backed off heat-wise, but: I read a tragic news story about some hikers who tried to hike in that heat sometime in the last few days. Seems like there was a similar story in the last couple of years. People really seem to not understand the dangers if they don't live around it or haven't otherwise already experienced it. (Admittedly, I'm angry they were so dumb that they got themselves killed. Those incidents were 100% preventable. I hate watching people win Darwin awards.)

Ugh, that’s truly awful and tragic! The heatwave has ended - for now! - but not before it set off some horrific wildfires, which we haven’t had all year, until now. The air is covered with smoke and haze, and it’s another kind of awful. Between this and the insane TRA laws, I’m getting tired of this state by the minute, even though I’ve lived here since 1980.😕 If It wasn’t for my family, I’d have moved out too.

Okay, I know it's Monday but I am annoyed and it's too stupid to make a thread.

I'm watching Hudson & Rex right now, a remake of Kommisar Rex, a show I loved as tiny Mouton. Anyway, this episode includes a teenage girl secretly transitioning because 'she is not like other girls'. This also includes a mom who was kept out of it (because mom is a girly girl) but 'always knew' because the girl 'heard of reincarnation when she was four and said she wanted to reincarnate as a boy' and 'she trained different than other girls. Boxing on her own instead of yoga in a group'. Of course the line 'Don't you want her to be her true self?' was uttered. (Strange because that would be misgendering, right?)

Real nice erasure of tomboy girls and reinforcing gender stereotypes here. And yeah, let's pretend it is AWESOME to let teenagers secretly get HRT and shit! No biggie, safe as fuck! I am mad at the internet now. I just wanted to watch a silly detective show with a dog, dudes. Not the goddamn normalisation of transing teenagers.

Fuck you, Canada, for ruining a very lovely light hearted Krimi with a dog.

I read this line and thought immediately of #BossBabes. Clearly I've been spending too much time browsing r/antimlm, hahaha. Why do all cults sound the same....

Sorry that your beloved show got all filled up with TRA horseshit! I relate to this sentiment... it's like the indoctrination is everywhere these days. Ugh.

Hahahaha! I hadn't even notice that but true!

What worries me the most is the normalisation of a teen secretly on hormones with an adult (but not the parents) knowing it on a show that has fuck all to do with this subject. When a kid sees that, it seems absolutely okay that happens. Nobody bats an eye. It was a sideplot of the episode, not the criminal thing.

Honestly, giving a teenager hrt and keep their parents in the dark sounds like the goddamn plot of a 90s Law & Order SVU episode. With Elliott getting all angry and punped up and shit because he has five kids and all.

Yeah that's incredibly fucked up. How casual it is. The grooming. "I'm who has your best interests at heart! Don't tell your parents! Let's keep it a secret. Here's some drugs..."
