Not sure how many of you are still on Reddit, but if you are ...

Reddit is updating site behavior on blocking users. If you block someone (or they block you), neither of you will be able to see each other's profiles or activity. The only exception will be for moderator activity. Mods can still see any comments/posts you make in their subs, and users will still see mod-distinguished (green) comments/posts.

The updates are in-progress but not yet complete. I just blocked my own test account to see what happens. My test account could still see me, but I couldn't see my test account. If I went to a direct link to content my test account posted, there was notification it was a blocked user on the post and an option to click-to-view the content. But comments my test account made (and all comments under it) already display as deleted/removed until I un-blocked.

So anyway, if you're still active on Reddit, true user or troll ... block these accounts:

Those are widely-used mod bots that auto-ban you from SUB-A due to your activity in SUB-B. Once the full block behavior rolls out, they won't be able to auto-ban you since they can't see what you're doing elsewhere ;) Mods can also set up their own independent bots that report to them offsite of course, which some absolutely do ... but those 2 bots are very commonly used across hundreds of large subs.

If you ARE NOT a mod and just a regular user, another bot you may want to consider blocking is: https://old.reddit.com/user/sub_mentions

What that one does is look for mention of sub names all across Reddit, and then emails ModMail so mods are alerted that their sub is being discussed. We used to use that bot (among other things) to stay on top of brigades coming from others.

EDIT: if you block nathan131412 as suggested below, you will disrupt the ability of an archiving site to memorialize and provide evidence. I'm sure the archiving site will work around it eventually, but remember, your anonymous internet privacy also means no more proof of what the group goes through publicly. It's your choice and you should do what is best for you, but I want you to have all the information and nuances when you make a decision.

Happy new year everyone!

Hope you had a good new years eve! I stayed home alone and finished painting my wall purple, ordered a ton of chinese and i watched the green book which was not bad and new episodes of the expanse. Watched a lot of fireworks from my living room in my pajamas. Honestly it was amazing and i didnt have a hangover on new years day and it was kind of great.

I'm now watching the live action Cowboy Bebop serie on Netflix. It's only one season and it got cancelled. I can see why some people hate it because Cowboy Bebop is a classic and some changes were made but in all honesty i think so far its got its charm and you can see it was made with love. I'm sad it's only one season.

I'm done clearing out the tarp and tape and can start unpacking stuff tomorrow and finally settle in.

My problem with the live action Cowboy Bebop is that it's not Cowboy Bebop. It's a sci-fi comedy with Buffy/Seinfeld dialogue.

It's never going to be like the original Cowboy Bebop. There is no chance in hell of that. So honestly, with that in mind, i kind of like what they did with it.

I appreciate the attention to details in some scenes they recreated from the anime and i love that they brought in the person who made the music for the anime.

The actor who played jet is really good imho.

See that's another problem though, obviously they were never going to be able to do it one to one, there are certain things you can do in animation that are either very costly, impossible, or look silly in real life. Yet then they go and try to make Ed a real life anime character, which just came across as cringey.

I'm not at Ed yet, i will let you know what if i agree with you on that one

If you haven't seen the Next Generation episode, "Who Watches The Watchers", you should see it! It encapsulates all the philosophical qualities of Star Trek -- Prime Directive, unlimited potential -- into one great episode. Ron Jones's score is spot-on, and it's very contemplative and thoughtful.

Pretended to be in agreement while a friend trashed J.K. Rowling for her terrible, terrible ways and talked about how woke he was.

Lol, I had an identical experience a couple weeks ago. Seems like most of the time I hear someone bring her up IRL, they're trying to do some sort of social signaling thing.. it's so strange to watch.

Yeah, we were not talking about trans things or Rowling. She came up tangentially because he was talking about books for kids.
