Takei is similar to other older pro-trans gay men I know: hanging on to every trend in a desperate attempt to remain relevant. And I say that as someone in his fifties. I'm well aware that I'm not on the same page as those who consider themselves young and hip.

And I don't hate anyone. But I would rather see people get treatment that actually helps them with their psychological problems.

Takei is famous for playing a character he played 50 years ago. He has little other cultural capital. If he disagreed with TQ+ talking points, he'd be canceled in an instant. If he goes along with them, he signals his virtue in their eyes.

Yes, but if he was worried about being canceled, he could just mind his business. He strikes me as someone so vapid and vain that he’s willing to do anything for attention/relevance. Who knows if he even actually believes any of this? He’s just here for the likes. Takei clearly doesn’t look around him and see which way the wind blows or he’d find another group to pander to.

I’m 26 years old and I respect the elders. But I hate it when older people try to act radical and hype in an effort to pander to youths, because it’s just not sincere. People should embrace the stage of their lives they’re at and do whatever is natural for them. But I don’t think Takei is pandering to LGBT youth. I think he’s just bitter and resentful. And like a lot of celebrities, George Takei is out of touch with reality.

I know a gay man in his sixties who's a columnist/journalist, and he's constantly trying to position himself on the cutting edge of wokeness. I'd say it's obvious to everyone that he's pandering in order to stay employed.
