I’m surprised that Channel 4 News are covering this story. Pleasantly surprised. And of course this governor has been punished for speaking out against the madness.

This needs so much more coverage in the western media. Canada's national broadcaster (CBC) has trans and queer stories on its website every other day, and has never even touched the Keira Bell case.

I wish there was still investigative journalism. Would love to follow the money trail there. Someone is making the decision to crank the Trans Agenda into high gear at the highest level for it to dominate the govt channel.

I think you underestimate the power of social pressure and self-righteous egos. Because the T is attached to the LGB, which in turn is squarely allied with the progressive movement, prestigious western media organizations (which are largely dominated by progressives) think they'd be doing something morally bereft and socially irresponsible by subjecting trans activism or ideology to any skepticism.

"U"S media is a disaster. They literally refuse to touch any LGB stories without also pushing T propaganda in equal or greater amounts. And this goes for both scripted fiction and news, not to mention that horrific atrocity euphemistically called "reality TV."

And so it unfolds.

Pretty much as I predicted back on /r/gender critical back in 2018.

This while thing is going to go down in history alongside lobotomies for promiscuous girls.

Is there a risk to all the progress made for LGB rights when the T narrative implodes?

I'm concerned for future witch hunts & another wave of puritanism.

Completely agree!

Let's hope so. We're still a long ways off from dismantling state sponsored child abuse and the stopping promotion of unhealthy coping mechanisms for people with mental illness as stunning and brave.

The general trend of trans people demanding to self ID and get hormones and surgery with little to no doctor intervention was a horribly predictable result of normalizing transgenderism.

We all know it probably will..... what we don't know is when.

(Reposting this comment because the language that the Tavistock expert used got censored by automod.)

This is amazing. Would recommend watching the whole video, but here are some quotes:

"many children were given inappropriate medical treatment"

"35-40% of these children are on the [ASD, language censored] spectrum" (I can't tell if he is referring to Tavistock internal numbers or some other source?)

"a large number of them have been exposed to major trauma, a large number of them have very serious family problems"

4:38 "This is a form of conversion therapy, for young people who are gay or lesbian."

6:54 speaks about leadership at Tavistock sending the message to junior staff that they can't speak out or they will be called transphobic

Found this from Allison Bailey's (a founder of LGB Alliance UK) Twitter: https://mobile.twitter.com/BluskyeAllison/status/1353085843225903104

Wish he would have included bisexuals in his comment too, but very glad he spoke up.

Looks like Channel 4 is getting some backlash but also a lot of sane comments about the report: https://mobile.twitter.com/Channel4News/status/1353064961443061760

I think it eases the burden on them that the Keira Bell victory came first. She really made things easier for us all. :) What an awesome woman.

Ooof.

Reading the comments on that was eye watering.

Literally "transphobia" over and over. I suspect the comments have been brigaded by a subset of interested parties. Also denying he was qualified to comment, although if the guy who was running the Tavistock isn't qualified, idk who is.

It's interesting to see just how misinformed the public is about this issue.

I, (USA,) am floored with this interview. Newman was level; gave credence to the parties, imparted no bias. (This didn't happen in the last interview I saw her give on a different topic. So, good job, Kathy Newman.)

Your former Tavistock governor was eloquent and concise.

I know the UK is going to sort this out before we do, because the service is centralized. In the US, it is highly decentralized, but these two countries share a cultural and legal heritage. It's coming home in no time.

EDIT:

I think this is a turning point. I really do. I'm just sitting here basking in this segment.

Same here!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe how big this is! I was having a rough day yesterday and then saw this before I went to bed, and it made it all worth it!

There is no way that the US can remain in the dark forever... one way or another, it's gonna make it into the mainstream press, even if they're kicking and screaming all the way! Thank god for the sane people in other countries leading the way.

Good catch. This needs to spread far and wide.

I hope this gets lots of coverage.

It's deeply disturbing that society has allowed it to get to this point, using children as guinea pigs.

Am I the only one who was shocked to see that this was covered by Cathy "So You're Saying" Newman? I suppose that her treatment of Jordan Peterson was consistent with her being a 2nd-wave, gender-critical feminist. Still, it feels strange to see her doing her job properly.

[–]reluctant_commenter[S] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yeah, I thought she did a great job!! I know nothing about this reporter but I thought her questions were fair, even her asking him "Are you sure you're not on the wrong side of history?" is pretty reasonable given the magnitude of the topic!

[–]mvmlego 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

To be fair to Cathy Newman, the only other place I've seen her was probably the single-worst day of her career, and I suppose it's bad to judge people's general level of competence on their worst few days. Anyhow, here's the interview I was referring to, in case you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMcjxSThD54

Regardless of one's opinion of Jordan Peterson, it's pretty safe to say that this is not how one is supposed to conduct an interview.

Was debating between flairing this "LGB Victory" for the fact that this is final making major new, and "Transing Children"-- input welcome.
