LGB Alliance twitter now protected?

edit: Looks like it was temporary, they are right back at it today! Wonder what happened.

Any idea why this is? I am guessing harassment related to that one hashtag about Biden erasing women might be part of why. Glad it put them on the map for many people, at least.

Don't forget that out of all the social media platforms twitter is one of the most toxic, a literal cesspool of gender idology in fact. LGB Alliance will do what they have to to buffer against the crazies from time to time. LGB Alliance aren't going anywhere and more and more LGB people are coming on board even if they don't openly say so for fear of harassment by said crazies.

It's not the queer/trans/asexual crazies they have to worry about, but the people they've approved to run LGB Alliance groups in other countries. Seems LGB Alliance USA has been put on the pay no mind list by the American media and that's bad news. They really need to be heard on the Biden LGBTQ executive order and The Equality Act but it seems their visibility problem or lack thereof has come to bite them in the ass. Then there's LGB Alliance Canada. Apparently, they didn't get the memo that TERF is a slur.

I was already following, so I scrolled back about a week and did not see an obvious announcement about locking down. But I am also tired. Nothing about it on https://twitter.com/LGBAlliance_USA for the last few days either.

Don’t think that’s wise in the long term. If it’s short term to shield from abuse than I’m for it. Protecting your mental (and possibly physical) health is top priority. Shows yet again the level ‘the right side of history’ operate at.

Oh wait... if Twitter won't ban pyramid schemes and TRAs begging for free money, they won't delete this either. Seems like people only get Twitter bans for having a wrong opinion.

Begging for money and proceeding to put it towards nothing but their own pockets & elevating themselves. I guess if they advertised that directly, it wouldn't be a scam, but they claim to be the bringers of some divine justice, yet they sit on their asses and just keyboard warrior. God knows where that "funding" is going - they're as much of a sink as LGBTQ+ organizations.

I won't criticize your general skepticism of organizations that purport to represent the LGB community-- there is a lot of reason to be skeptical.

  • Met with local police force to discuss LGB issues (cool for the UK, doesn't do much for us in other countries)

  • Did some Youtube interviews with people about Stonewall to clear up myths spread by trans rights activists. / started a webinar series

  • (doesn't really count) One of their founders, Allison Bailey, is suing Stonewall for discrimination; however, you could credit this to her as an individual, so it doesn't really count as LGB Alliance doing something per se.

You know what, you're actually right, they haven't done very much so far... Mad respect that Allison Bailey is at least suing Stonewall, though, that's a start. I do think that it's super helpful in and of itself that they are there on Twitter starting to raise awareness that LGB people are not necessarily on board with the T; but on the other hand, they actually aren't really doing much.

What would you like to see from such an organization, ideally? There's going to need to be some level of keyboard-warrioring, but there needs to be a lot more substantive action. I am thinking, for example:

  • compiling lists of companies that are very pro-transgender ideology, for boycotting or for calling out at least

  • collecting and sharing data about LGB attitudes on what problems they face and opinions on the transgender community, dating trans people, homophobic experiences (to dispel the TRA myth that "homophobia is dead now, transphobia is the only real issue!")

I struggle to criticize them for not having more in-person events, though. The problem with in-person rallies and stuff, besides the pandemic, is that in the past TRAs have just beaten the shit out of dissenters.

What exactly did this achieve, because to my knowledge, being gay is not a crime in the UK nor is turning down trans people.

  2. It does not matter. This does not help people, this does not save lives. The world is unstable and many people are struggling, it does not matter who did what at some riot many decades ago - this does not affect people in the here and now. Why on earth would you donate for that cause when you could donate to more active causes like helping the homeless, or victims of abuse?

  3. I fail to see why they need funding for this...?

What would you like to see from such an organization, ideally?

This is a tough question because I don't support the premise of their organization, period. We need less LGB(T) groups not more. In my opinion? Anything LGB(T) should be "disbanded" so people stop viewing homosexuality as a hivemind & an accessory, or a "community." Because it's not. As for an anti-trans organization...? This is something an organization cannot do, especially not a charity.

UNLESS there was a charity dedicated to helping victims of trans child abuse ("trans kids" forced or pressured into it) detransitioners (medical & emotional support) and intersex victims of trans ideology (It's not uncommon for intersex people to be pressured to do something akin to transition to "fix" them or "make them a real man/woman.")

But honestly? I don't think an organization like that would ever get off the ground without being shunned out of existence.
