That last point is a good one. I was assuming a base of little/no knowledge, which is rare in younger people. It’s easier to explain why gender theory is mad, but harder to explain why all this has happened. The reverse for younger people. But my generation are either indoctrinated (good luck having a sensible conversation) or closeted GC (hard to find)

They don’t take interest in ‘woke’ affairs- this includes LGB- until I’ve explained how the gender agenda impinges on women’s rights. They have very little understanding of Internet culture (neither is on social media). So there’s a lot more to explain, without overloading them and I’m struggling to explain how the heck this has all happened.

I definitely think communicating with older people is different and harder. Younger people are much more tech savvy and understand Internet culture (which I believe has brought this into the mainstream). Of course, this is a generalisation and there are probably people 50+ who are more tech savvy than me!

Our best athletes are always black too (Ennis, Johnson-Thompson, Asher-Smith). Never thought about it that way before, but the EA will disproportionately affect black women. Even in these woke times you’ve got to be male. Male person of colour, male woman etc, gay male. Women are still bottom of the pile, minority women even more so. While work is being done to elevate minorities in general, women are still ignored. I actually think this is a major issue in feminism- we’re not a true ‘minority’. Wokes are all about minorities- so black (3%UK, 13 US), LGB (do not have the statistics but less than 50% for sure). Women in the U.K. are 51%, so we’re not a true minority. So the wokes couldn’t care less, regardless of race, you’re still female, so whatever. They don’t care about the issues specifically affecting BAME women (eg FGM). Men IDing as women however, now THAT is a minority worth fighting for.

They’ve got to think about other people. I’m personally not uncomfortable with a TW in toilets (so long as they pass- not the blue hair and beard type, to me they seem quite threatening), and in non-competitive, non or semi contact sport I personally would be okay with a TW. But only in non-competitive circumstances.

I am speaking from a privileged viewpoint myself (never been assaulted by men, live in the U.K., so legally have the same rights). I acknowledge this privilege and listen and consider people who have been affected by these issues. Their testimony outlines why men do not belong in women’s spaces. I am against men in women’s spaces as women with past trauma (DV, rape etc) need spaces away from men and this cannot be compromised. It’s not up to me, issues such as this involve the most vulnerable women in society, many are uncomfortable/traumatised by men in their spaces, their say is final.

[–]Britishbulldog 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Your genetic code doesn’t change. Your cells replicate by mitosis- DNA is exactly replicated then the cell divides. Things dictated by this (sex, eye colour, height at adulthood, for example) don’t change. A cystic fibrosis sufferer doesn’t randomly stop suffering, because although many things about their body can change, the mutation in their DNA remains. The disease won’t go away.

No matter what alterations occur in my body, my genes will ALWAYS contain two X chromosomes and NEVER a Y chromosome (and therefore never any of the genes contained on it).

I could have a phalloplasty and take T. I’ll still be a woman with the internal biological structures of females, weaker muscles (taking T will not make me as strong as a man), higher risk of osteoporosis and when I’m dug up in 1,000 years by archaeologists (assuming humanity hasn’t destroyed itself), the shape of my skull and width of my hips will indicate I’m female.

I’m a bisexual women and I swear I’d have been a victim of this ideology if I was 5 or so years younger.

I’d spend some time away from LGBT circles and with people who have supported you and talk to them. Maybe even take a bit of time off the Internet and do something you enjoy- I potter in the garden when I’m burning out (the main MH issue I suffer from) but I don’t know where you are- might be a tad cold for that! It is here right now!

You talk about undoing the ideology- it sounds like you’re already there, or on the way. Just critically analyse every thing you see- not obsessively, just a quick second to ask ‘does this all add up?’ I say this as someone who fell into the ideology. Then I saw men in women’s sport and that opened my eyes. I then engaged my brain and over the next year came to realise the scope of the damage of this ideology. Undoing conditioning takes a long time, so don’t rush it, don’t be hard on yourself- you’ve been through a lot; and don’t be afraid to have your own opinion, whatever it is.

My mother and I were having an interesting convo earlier.

Anti-vax disinformation- social media firms make money from it (I’m not 100% sure how) so make little effort to really weed it out. There isn’t wokeness and intersectionality associated with vax/antivax so the liberals aren’t sufficiently interested too. As for pharma- governments are buying enough to cover their population (multiple times over in richer countries). From the pharmaceutical companies’ perspective, whether people get these doesn’t matter- they’ve got their money.

Gender theory- pharma companies stand to make an enormous amount by forcing teens and children into a lifetime of (unnecessary) medication. This is more an individual basis, not government bulk buying. They have enormous lobbying power too. So anti-gender theory gets ruthlessly purged. Add the liberal institutions being bought onside and GC is being crushed wherever possible.

TLDR: Follow the money!!!

I personally don’t have an issue with the right in the U.K., it’s more the association will deter neutrals from our cause- but then it’s just like you said- it’s just hyperbole- (there’s a more religious mysogynistic element to the right in the US I believe). Here, they (the Conservatives) are the only thing stopping us losing our rights. As for your recent election, if I was American I could not have voted for either side in good conscience. Trump is a mysogynist and anti-abortion. Biden is wrapped around TRA’s little fingers. The left scares me more than the right. I think we have more fanatical leftists than fanatical right-wingers here; I think you’ve got it differently (or they just make the news way more). And the leftists will do more damage. I don’t think the far-right hold sway with any institutions, but the woke left does.

[–]Britishbulldog 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I’m not completely sure tbh but I’ve got a few thoughts. Humans are diploid. That means we have 23 pairs of chromosomes. Each pair contains different alleles of the same genes (except the sex chromosomes). Meiosis the process by which a gamete is made. Gametes are haploid (1 set of 23 chromosomes), so when 2 fuse, you’re back to 2 x 23 chromosomes. So the number of sets halves to then double back to the ‘correct’ amount. This couldn’t work with 3x23 (you can’t split a chromosome).

The maths would work if we were tetraploid (4 x 23), but there is a practical aspect. Reproduction in mammals is almost always penis (supplies male gamete) in vagina (supplies female gamete)- the gametes actually come from other parts of the sex organs but for simplicity it can be assumed as above. How the heck four gametes from four individuals would come together in such a way I’ve no idea.

Interestingly there are organisms that don’t have 2 sets of chromosomes. The only organisms with 3 sets are sterile crop cultivars as they are incapable of meiosis. Asexually reproducing organisms often have one set. There are organisms with 4 or 6 sets but these are always plants, often specific cultivars. Some sugar cane plants have twelve sets.

[–]Britishbulldog 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Evolution: the advantageous (or neutral) alterations that occur in an organism due to DNA mutations over millions of years. An organism doesn’t wake up one day with a radical change in its genome. With regards to sex, humans (and most higher organisms) reproduce sexually. This is to mix the DNA of two people, which at the population level gives higher genetic variation than an organism that reproduces asexually. Higher genetic variation means an organism is more capable of adapting to environmental changes. Sex is crucial to this- sex evolved to do this very function. Humans won’t evolve to not have sexes anymore. Further to that, genes unrelated to sex are stored on the X chromosome, such as clotting factor VIII (this is why haemophilia almost always affects males). The X chromosome contains 5% of the whole genome, so it would take a mass translocation to get rid of the chromosome. This would involve genes and non-protein coding genetic elements (promotors, enhancers, suppressor regions) to also translocate. This fusing of chromosomes only happens in cancer cells (specifically where cellular mechanisms preventing this have failed).

Your point on cancer is interesting (mainly because I’ve done oncology at uni and it is depressing as heck but also incredibly interesting). Almost all types of cancer occur after reproductive age. Evolution is basically the adaptation of the genome to selective pressures over millions of years. Organisms adapt to reproduce, any changes affecting life past are reproductive age have no evolutionary benefit. A theoretical mutation X that prevents all cancers (this is actually impossible as cancers are highly diverse) would not affect who reproduces and who dies before this point enough to increase the frequency of mutation X. The obvious exception to this is childhood cancer but these are almost always due to an existing mutation, either inherited or a mutation in the gametes, and fortunately it is not common enough to have an evolutionary consequence at the population level with respect to mutation X.

I don’t assume trans people are more likely to be QT because I’ve seen a fair few on the Internet who aren’t, and the most vociferous proponents of QT tend to be natal women (and men, to a lesser extent). I do not believe it is right to discriminate against a trans person who believes in QT, for the same reason it’s wrong to discriminate against other religions- harassing people because they believe in something different leads to more division and intolerance.

The reason I make this comparison is belief in an innate gender identity reminds me of belief in a soul (a common theme in many religions). I believe in neither, but I personally don’t care what you believe so long as you don’t force it upon me.

Firing/not hiring, assaulting/harassing, encouraging other people to be unkind/violent to someone because they’re trans. This is transphobia.

Ignoring someone’s request for coerced speech, not allowing them to trample women’s rights, not dating them due to their sex. That’s not transphobia, those are privileges some TRAs want trans people to have over women. That’s the issue GCers have.

Gender critical isn’t anti-trans people, but it’s anti-trans theory. We don’t believe we have an innate ‘gender identity’, we’re male/female because of our bodies. Queer theory depends on sexist stereotypes- in fact, I’m fairly sure they’d say I’m a closeted transman (STEM student, does weights, metalhead, football, doesn’t conform to the beauty rituals society imposes on women), when I’m just a tomboy. If society wasn’t so rigid in the way men and women HAVE to present differently, we wouldn’t have this mess.

True. My comment was tongue in cheek. It would possibly be unsafe for TIFs. I find them a more difficult issue than TIMs, as TIMs can compete with men whereas TIFs are analogous to women doping T, but as you said, they do not have the same performance as men, plus the safety issues seen in rugby and MMA would likely remain. I guess they would have to stick to mixed sports and competitions.

This terrifies me. In one fell swoop women are erased. Feel horrible for American women and girls. You’ve gotta fight this. I’m also scared. The US leads the world, and I’m terrified others will follow. While Liz Truss is in office us Brits are fine, and hopefully we can live up to our nickname of TERF island, but I worry for those outside of the UK.

GC: If two bisexual people are in a "relationship", are they in a "bisexual relationship" because they are bisexual? Would the terms "gay relationship" and "straight relationship" invalidate their bisexuality and be bierasure? by [deleted] in GCdebatesQT

[–]Britishbulldog 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is merely my opinion here. I am a bisexual woman. Personally don’t think there’s such thing as a ‘bisexual relationship’. If I’m with a man I’m in a straight relationship (regardless of whether he’s straight or bi), if I’m with a woman I’m in a gay relationship (regardless of whether she’s gay or bi). Wouldn’t be offended by somebody calling the relationship bi though, it’s just not the language I would use.

TLDR: Bisexual is a description of a person’s sexuality, not the relationship.

Considering our similar ages, I think it’s more to do with location. Race is less of a major issue here- particularly where I’ve lived (very rural and a not particularly diverse small city, without giving much away). Imagine it is a much bigger issue in London and the more diverse cities here. Any Brits from bigger cities able to add anything?

I absolutely agree, intersectionality is important, particularly for WoC, disabled women and women in non-Westernised nations. The original post was not denouncing the whole concept, more the obsessive applying it to feminism and nothing else (and more specifically to men in feminism). Intersectionality should mean ALL women (not all people). It’s the way feminism is forced to be ‘intersectional’ and most times I’ve seen it the ‘intersectional’ in question is TIMs or male identifying men. This might be an age thing. I’m 21.

I did notice ‘black trans lives matter’. It seems TRAs want to centre themselves in anything. There were no demands for BLM to include non-blacks were there? As black trans people are already in the specific group BLM advocate for. Was there demands for them to include all ethnic minorities- i.e to include people who are in no way part of the group advocated for (so men in feminism, white people and non-black ethnic minorities for BLM)

I miss it too- never experienced, only heard about it (I’m 21). If I’m honest, I despise modern feminism. It literally centers men in everything. First we had ‘men can be feminists’ to try to get them onside. Fair enough, I don’t agree, but if it proves to be a successful tactic for getting shit done, then FINE. But, give an inch and they’ll take a mile- or in this case, a whole fucking LIGHT YEAR. And now men can be feminists, and feminism is about male pleasure, male fetish, the male right to women’s bodies, etc. The more I think about it, the more I loathe modern feminism. Finding online spaces with mostly lesbians and women outside and often older than my usual circle (uni, aka wokeford) makes me believe it still exists. It’s dying out and myself and any other young millennials/Gen Z reading this must keep it going.

[–]Britishbulldog 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Simple: Male- underwent the developmental pathway in the womb to produce the biological structures evolved to produce sperm. Female- underwent the developmental pathway in the womb to produce the biological structures evolved to produce ova.

Issue one- the definition above is ‘structures evolved to produce...’ Whether said structures actually work isn’t relevant to it.

Issue two- the definition above specifies development within the womb. Whether a biological structure is later altered or removed is not relevant to it.

Issue three. The act of procreation is not mentioned.

Something I’ve noticed. Saying ‘women can’t play football’ or ‘women aren’t funny’ is mostly okay. Replace ‘women’ with ‘Asians’ or ‘Gays’ or any other protected group and suddenly it’s not ok. We’re the only group under the Equality Act that are still acceptably socially ridiculed. Also, are there any ‘men can’t...’ phrases in common use? Can’t think of any rn

Another example: I walk down the street and yell a racist slur at someone- I would rightfully get my ass handed to me by the police. If a man whistles at me, I’d be told to get a thicker skin, however.

And then the few protections we have are going when Labour get in... I despise this government but right now they seem to have women’s backs on this issue.

Thanks- it’s quite useful to have a man’s perspective on this issue, because like it or not- men have the power- so for feminists to get anything done, we need make support. Oh, the irony.

Imo the forums have a lot of radical feminists on them, some of whom are misandrists. Sorry you’ve had to see some of the crap they post. I will also say not all radfems are misandrists- nowadays not believing men can be women and sex work is empowering is enough to class you as a radical feminist.

For the guys who would maybe want to support us- I’d look at official campaigns (Fair Play for Women, ReSisters, Standing for Women)- there will be more sense there. And men spreading word would help hugely.

I just want to also say I really appreciate your support.

BLM AND pronouns are a really 2020 virtue signal. BLM alone is fine- as far as I’m aware they’re not like TRAs (excluding the TRA black trans lives matter sect), they’re just sick of the institutional racism in the US/U.K. (idk about BLM abroad). Pronouns only indicates someone is (at best) not engaging their brain, (at worst) one of the bullies also.

So multiple flaws on a brief skim that didn’t get all the way through. Other GCs will pull it apart more thoroughly.
