Can someone please explain the logic behind "bi lesbians"? Why do they not want to just call themselves bisexual?

Maybe it's female bisexuals who prefer females but still like both genders/sexes?, I'm sure that's not right because that would make too much sense. Why do some people need to categorize everything?, it will all end up being so confusing

I call it 'The Victorian Butterfly Collector' mentality. Unsatisfied until everything is dead, neatly pinned to a board and categorised correctly with a little label underneath it.

That pretty much sums it up from what I've seen.

I think it’s the flipside to “bihet.” I haven’t seen most people around here use that term but I have seen some people do so. Both terms should go the way of the dodo.

Bihet is a combination of two sexualities, though. As in, bi women and het women or bi men and het men. A single person cannot be bihet, because you can't be both bisexual and heterosexual any more than you can be both bisexual and lesbian.

I use it as a short hand for male-attracted women. E.g. "It would be more appropriate for bihet women to weigh in but I think you're single because of your attitude, lots of bald men have girlfriends".

I don’t generally have a problem with it being used as shorthand for talking about male-attracted women as a group, as you are using it, especially if it’s not meant to be derisive. However, I’ve seen it used by others when discussing just bisexual women specifically, generally pejoratively in circumstances that go beyond personal venting (even when I don’t necessarily disagree with the points being made). It’s this latter situation I’m more concerned about. It’s a fine line sometimes.

when discussing just bisexual women specifically

Seems strange to say bihet if they're only referring to bi women.

Yea I mean they’re using it (pejoratively) to indicate that bisexual women who are only interested in men as romantic partners are functionally heterosexual.

Probably bi girls who don't feel like they're 'gay' enough because they still like men. So they call themselves bi lesbians for woke points.
