I'm into interactive fiction which is a niche hobby as it is but that doesn't stop trans stuff of coming up. It comes up all the time, 'how do you write [insert here whatever]' or 'whats your opinion on [something not trans related]? 'Well, something something transphobia!!' A game has 'gender-choice' tag.. hmm, not good enough, wait for it, someone will ask when you gonna put a non binary option, and when you do they will tell you that something is problematic about how you present that option. Then ask for a definition, they will tell you it is anything because "it's a spectrum"! There is literally no definition but you still need their approval unless you claim to be enby yourself.. you cannot win here because you cannot code all these options they want.

I'm very happy when I see a game that has gender choice tag but no non binary selection. They're so few and the authors still have to justify their reasoning. Apparently 'realistic setting' is not good enough, but nor is 'I don't want to'. They always ask why.

I also noticed this discourse that also happens in fandoms: women supposedly fetishizing gay men. I don't know how it started and why but I noticed lots of women in IF groups started identifying as nb because, since they're not women, they can't be called out for fetishizing men when they write m/m romances or draw m/m.. and the 'gay men' making these callout posts are always straight TIFs.

There is so much drama for a niche hobby and it almost always has to do with someone who identifies as trans. The moderation of the forum I go is a mess, very woke and 'no discussion, no questioning!' type.

I love reading game books but honestly can't wait till that group eats itself, which seems to be already happening with people being angry about moderation recently and drama caused by a callout post by some enby from tumblr causing some people to leave the forum permanently and migrate to.. wait for it: reddit! Lmao.
