I have the same problem with youtube and podcasts, people can't seem to stop going on tangents about Trans Rights and for what? Woke points? And most of it is subtle enough that an impressionable viewer/listener just absorbs it without thinking because it's the opinion of someone they like :/ And then I have trouble taking them seriously after hearing a rant about how TWAW or why JK Rowling is the devil.

Eugh I'm so glad I'm not the one going through this. It's most certainly for woke points and it's so flipping annoying. For me personally, the podcast thing really got to me because I really do like the podcast but after hearing that shit a few days ago and will have to potentially hear them talk abot "Trans" shit whenever the "trans" character or the "Terf" Dean makes an appearance in an episode they cover, I just know I'm gonna have so much frustration with it.

And then I have trouble taking them seriously after hearing a rant about how TWAW or why JK Rowling is the devil.

Me too.... Me too... And so far I've had 2 or 3 people I watch talk about how JK Rowling is a terrible human being.

They basically bleat about trans rights and then link a Patreon.

It's total woke points and most of them honestly likely don't even care about trans rights. They just want money.

Oof. I feel this hard. I've had to unfollow/unsubscribe from a looooot of content creators I used to enjoy because they got on the woke train. It's maddening. I haven't really found a solution beyond trying to look for little clues that the content creator in question might be gender critical, or at least not overly woke.

For example if I'm on instagram and I see some art that looks cool I'll go to the artist's profile and if I see pronouns, a trans flag, or any of the newer pride flags in the bio I nope the fuck out of there and block so that profile never shows up on my feed again. If I don't see pronouns or woke flags then I'll give the page a quick scroll through to check for trans flag colors or drawings of androgynous characters (because usually people try to 'they/them' those kinds of characters). This applies to twitter too, I just don't use it much.

Youtube is a lot harder to screen because you don't know someone is talking about trans stuff until you click the video, but it is doable. It's just more work up front.

Some 'green' flags for me though are: if a content creator enjoys Harry Potter (wearing HP merch in videos for example) without bashing JKR, continuing to use the words 'woman', 'female', 'mother', etc when appropriate and ignoring any TRAs in the comments who try to correct it, referring to oneself as a man or woman instead of a 'cis' man or woman, not using qualifiers like 'women and AFAB trans people', referring to oneself as straight/gay/lesbian/bi and not one of the fake sexualities like demi/pan/etc, general use of sex based language instead of identity based language. You have to watch someone for a while to chart this stuff. But in the end it's worth the work imo to have a 'safe' list of people you can watch.

Other things I do are stay away from Netflix originals if they come from the US. Netflix originals tend to be veeeeery woke here and will shove trans/enby/genderqueer into its shows wherever it can. I can do Netflix originals if they come from certain other countries though, because there's almost no chance of genderist bs coming in. Like the show Sweet Home I really liked. It's a Netflix original, but it's from South Korea, so I knew I probably wouldn't see any trans stuff in it. I was right.

The only exception right now for me is umbrella academy because my friend had already seen the first season when it came out. She's just as sick of trans stuff as I am so when she was really adamant I watch season 1 at her house I knew it was fine. Season 2, surprisingly, also didn't have any trans stuff in it. Although I'm wary of that now. Netflix claims it won't trans Vanya (Ellen Page's character) and that she'll stay female in the show, but I don't believe that. Ellen has gone so far off the deep end into her transition already and making statements about trans kids dying so I doubt she'll be fine with 'playing a woman' in the show. Being called 'she' while filming might make her have a breakdown in her trailer afterward, idk. I also really hate looking at Ellen's face now. I'll probably judge the first episode featuring Vanya when season 3 comes out and see how bad it is, but I'm prepared to drop the show if it gets woke.

Anyway. I'm rambling. It's rough out there and I empathize. As the TRAs say: block and stay safe! uwu

Right I do the same thing when it comes to art browsing. If I come across an artist who's art style I really like, I give their profiles a look and check for pronouns, "Trans" flag, or sayings like "LGBTQT++", I'll nope out of them as well. I learned this the hard way because an artist I followed on Twitter whose work I love so much, I didn't check their profile until they made a post about "being a long haired transman" and I was like "Oh fuck..." Go to the page, see that they're a woman who thinks she's a man yet has a fairly feminine appearance but dresses like a Metalhead and it all made sense lol But I couldn't unwatch her because I like her art style so much so I try to ignore it but that person is the only exception.

This is good, I'll try to use some of this for myself as well. I already kinda do it when I hear a content creator use phrasing like "AFAB / AMAB" or "Cis" but not so much on the Harry Potter stuff yet. Oh and yeah, if they call themselves "Demisexual" or "Demi" anything, bleh. But yeah I was just sent for a loop with the podcast thing I mentioned because up to that point, she (the podcast host) never once talked about trans stuff until now so I was totally not expecting it lol.

I don't have Netflix at this time so that's not a problem at the moment haha. But I remember there was a show called "POSE" that was being raved about and it sounded interesting until I heard there's a Trans character in it... Yeah no thanks. The only Netlfix original I've watched from streaming was the Castlevania anime and thankfully there wasn't any Gender BS in the 3 seasons so far.

Oh I've seen some ads for that show but I was on the fence. Good to know that at the time being they haven't shoved any Trans crap into it but unfortunately I fthink you're right to be worried that they most likely will at some point because of Ellen Page being a TRA Trans-identified woman. I guess just enjoy it while it lasts.

I don't blame you. I have like 1 or 2 people I follow on insta or am subbed to on youtube who have pronouns in their bio or claim to be 'demisexual' but they don't usually virtue signal beyond that so it's not as hard to stomach.

And good on you for not having netflix lol. Technically I don't either, I'm using my friend's. I've heard cool things about Castlevania though, now that I know there's no trans BS I might give it a watch.

Yeap. Not only that, Gerard Way (wrote the comics it's based on) is a huge TRA himself, believes in gender identity and all that. So there's nothing stopping him from retconning Vanya and making her a transman. He wrote the story, he can do what he wants. If netflix gets permission from him to trans her in the show then it's gonna happen, regardless of what they said initially when Ellen 'came out' 🙄.

Right, that's understandable and it helps so you don't have to focus much on that annoying crap. Unfortunately though I forgot to mention that the artist I gave an exception to does occasionally shove in some vapid "I feel so oppressed as a transman" crap every now and then. Recently she vented how she feels like some gay men don't take her seriously as a "transman" and well... lol But yeah thankfully it's not a super frequent thing she does.

Wait Gerard Way? As in the guy who was the singer for the band My Chemical Romance? No way lol Well damn, that's depressing (but somehow now surprising lol). But yeah, just try and enjoy it before the inevitable transwashing happens...

Oh my god. Sometimes I have to convince myself some of these people are just straight up stupid. Because the idea of being such a narcissist that you go into willful denial like this makes my head hurt.

And yep. That Gerard Way. When I first learned that I was like oh that's pretty cool. I like when celebrities venture into other avenues and are good at it. Because it helps to normalize not just picking one thing you 'do' for the rest of your life. You can do multiple things.

But yeah I found out he was a TRA and I was like well that's unfortunate but at least he didn't put it in umbrella academy. Then Ellen Page transed herself and I'm like well. It was good while it lasted I guess.

[–]Kai_Decadence[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah but honestly I can see how this woman deluded herself into thinking she's a man. I recently learned that she was big into Yaoi and it all made sense lol Quirky "uwu" yaoi/slash styled pictures when she's not focusing on her story with some of her characters and it just wreaks of those women anime fans who love writing and/or drawing yaoi. I think they're called "Fujoshi"? But yeah I recently learned this and it makes a lot more sense.

Man that is depressing to hear about him falling for the TRA BS and how Ellen's trans-identification is gonna most likely affect the show because TRAs love cramming that BS into stuff... Yeah...

qualifiers like 'women and AFAB trans people'

I always go out of my way to correct the AMAB/AFAB nonsense and remind that sex is observed at or before birth.

[–]Kai_Decadence[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Right I try to do the same with saying "We aren't "ASSIGNED" at birth, we're observed at birth".

I unsubscribed from Netflix and refuse to give them any more money because of how horrendously woque their shows and social media are. Transing every fucking character and throwing random trans people into situations that they absolutely should not be in, that take me out of whatever I am watching. The man posing as an orphanage worker for young girls in The Queen's Gambit was the final straw for me.

I just download anything I want from them so I don't support them.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't blame you. I'd heard about the queen's gambit debacle and I'm glad I didn't watch it. And I'm glad I don't have an account and one of my friends is letting me use hers.

Black women (and maybe other women of color) don't really talk about trans shit outside of radfem groups... so if you're interested in something not trans-related, seek out black women discussing it. White-centric groups in general have made this such a big deal because so many white people identify as trans/nonbinary/queer/etc nowadays. It's so trendy.

I'm on Instagram a lot and rarely see anything about trans shit unless it's about a state law. I only follow black women.

I see you mentioned video games... https://youtube.com/c/BlackGirlGamers

I avoid white people's content as much as possible.

Oh I've noticed this myself. A lot of black women don't seem to give much energy to the trans crap and depending on what kind of content they make, I'm always open to them. One of my favorite Gaming YouTubers I discovered recently named Pelvic Gaming, I notice she never brings up trans crap, at least in her videos anyway so I always look forward to her videos. And thanks for sharing the BlackGirlGamers, they seem really chill. I'm not really into watching streamers and prefer people who do game reviews or game discussions but I'll check them out. Thanks again!

I would bet any money that most average trans rights folks riding the bandwagon would still not date a person lacking the genitalia of their partner preference. They would never say so out loud, because they know it is verboten.

[–]Kai_Decadence[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You're very right on that one. They'll go on and on about how TWAW or TMAM but ask them if they'd date or sleep with these people and it's either crickets or "no" and if the later, they'll follow up with something like "It's different" or "It's complicated" (Is it? Really? LOL)

[–]bopomofodojo 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I've noticed it all over the place. And it's definitely a recent change; I was following GC ~3 years ago and it was never this omnipresent.

I honestly think it's fear-induced virtue signalling. Refrains that must be stated by those fearful of being labelled as "TERFs" if they are silent. I wouldn't doubt if "influencers"/influential people online are getting insidious comments and DMs demanding their support, or they're seeing the writing on the wall about how no one can remain "neutral" and are picking the side that they think either gives them, or takes away less, social capital.

Pretty typical social people stuff. The TRA lobby is powerful and nearly everywhere. And of course they're shoveling it into any media they can. This is just another tactic.

Anecdote: I was following a game streamer recently, and suddenly someone in chat said "superstraight rights". Despite the streamer not really following the chat, within a half second the user was banned and the streamer went on a 5-minute tangent about how "transphobic" it is and how "trans rights are human rights", all the usual thought-terminating cliches. It felt forced, not in a "gun-to-the-head" way, but a scared kid "say the line or the kids on the playground won't play with you" way. They could have silently banned the user and ignored it, which is standard "troll" containment 101 (SS stuff aside), but TRAs are a major force in the game streaming community; if the streamer had stayed silent, it would obviously have been taken as a silent admission of sympathy even with the banning. Hence, the cliches. I don't doubt this is happening every day to influencers big and small who cater to communities where the woke is in fashion, or where TRAs are a threat.

Yeah I think this may have happened with the podcast host I talked about because up until this point, she never talked about Trans stuff, at least in the livestreams anyway (I don't follow her social media) but she did mention that she's "gotten comments from Transwomen" on "asking" her to correct things when it came to the trans characters as well as refraining from using "women" and just using "Ciswomen" instead which is what she's doing now...

I believe this because there are so many Troons in the Gaming community, it's freaking scary and it's part of the reason why I'm a little hesitant to get into streaming myself. But yeah it sounds like what you observed was performative trans-signaling. Like maybe the person doesn't believe in it or doesn't care all that much but still felt the need to say something as to not get ambushed by the troon brigade.

This bothers me so much. I cannot be a part of any video games community without the trans, especially transwomen, constantly proclaiming they're trans.

Harvest Moon? TRANS RIGHTS! Stardew Valley? TRANS RIGHTS! World of Warcraft? TRANS RIGHTS!

It does not matter the game - trans nonsense all the time. I've stopped being a part of gaming communities altogether because of it. Especially women gamer groups, which have been massively taken over by transwomen.

[–]Kai_Decadence[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Harvest Moon? TRANS RIGHTS! Stardew Valley? TRANS RIGHTS! World of Warcraft? TRANS RIGHTS!

I knew that Stardew Valley and World of Warcraft were breeding grounds for Trans crap but even Harvest Moon??? WTF? Then again, I saw this kinda bullshit seep into fandoms like Ratchet & Clank and Spyro the Dragon (two of my favorite franchises) so I can't be shocked about Harvest Moon lol.

I'm sorry that happened but I don't blame you, these people are annoyingly everywhere in the gamer community. I'm still somewhat active with gaming but I just try to avoid the trans stuff as much as I can.

Ditto. I was looking at Ariana Grande's Instagram just for fun yesterday and saw she posted this ridiculous "trans rights" post, talking about all these "transphobic new laws" that are being put in.

Like this famous millionaire living in a gated community even understands what is at stake for women's rights, or even interacts with normal women. She's so ignorant, like most of these woque celebrities, and it pissed me off.

[–]Kai_Decadence[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not surprised that someone like Ariana Grande did that. Gotta get those woke points y'know? lol This is why I'm all the more happy someone like JK Rowling was like "No, fuck that. I meant what I said" and didn't back down in defending her essay as well as biology being real. If only we could have more prominent figures do the same.

LMAO! I am so sorry, I am laughing so hard just now. I was literally speaking to my wife but five minutes ago that there is a Charmed reboot. Her reaction was, "let me guess: they're trans."

You cannot make this shit up! They've become so predictable now! 🤣😂🤣

[–]Kai_Decadence[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

LOL Oh wow what a coincidence haha. But actually with the Charmed reboot, none of the three main leads are trans though one of them is a TRA. The "trans" character in question is a supporting character, a woman who thinks she's a man and just recently a new one which is a man who thinks he's a woman.

I'm into interactive fiction which is a niche hobby as it is but that doesn't stop trans stuff of coming up. It comes up all the time, 'how do you write [insert here whatever]' or 'whats your opinion on [something not trans related]? 'Well, something something transphobia!!' A game has 'gender-choice' tag.. hmm, not good enough, wait for it, someone will ask when you gonna put a non binary option, and when you do they will tell you that something is problematic about how you present that option. Then ask for a definition, they will tell you it is anything because "it's a spectrum"! There is literally no definition but you still need their approval unless you claim to be enby yourself.. you cannot win here because you cannot code all these options they want.

I'm very happy when I see a game that has gender choice tag but no non binary selection. They're so few and the authors still have to justify their reasoning. Apparently 'realistic setting' is not good enough, but nor is 'I don't want to'. They always ask why.

I also noticed this discourse that also happens in fandoms: women supposedly fetishizing gay men. I don't know how it started and why but I noticed lots of women in IF groups started identifying as nb because, since they're not women, they can't be called out for fetishizing men when they write m/m romances or draw m/m.. and the 'gay men' making these callout posts are always straight TIFs.

There is so much drama for a niche hobby and it almost always has to do with someone who identifies as trans. The moderation of the forum I go is a mess, very woke and 'no discussion, no questioning!' type.

I love reading game books but honestly can't wait till that group eats itself, which seems to be already happening with people being angry about moderation recently and drama caused by a callout post by some enby from tumblr causing some people to leave the forum permanently and migrate to.. wait for it: reddit! Lmao.

[–]Kai_Decadence[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oy that sounds like a mess indeed lol And yeah, I like when video games allow your characters to dress in unisex i.e male characters can wear "women's" clothing" and female characters can wear "men's clothing". That's what I like about the Saints Rows and WWE Wrestling games (the oldr titles) with their character creation system but I know that these clowns will make it something it really isn't if they played these games lol.
