And many of these men will be raping their female cell mate.

I resent them using curvy images there for TW. They should have been honest and used hulking shapes.

This was not a random sampling of all transwomen. The infographic is misleading because data was collected through recruitment sampling after having met certain risk criteria. Homelessness and sex worker status are overrepresented here. Another thing to take note of is that about 95% of respondents did not engage in insertive vaginal sex, meaning these are not AGP transbians. These are mostly homosexual transwomen (i.e. gay males).

But only half of them are homosexual, & they are the most vulnerable demographic to HIV. So wouldn't that mean about 92% of the homosexual ones have HIV? Sounds a bit high.

The fact that only 17% of white men who identify as women have HIV seems to confirm that all the straight ones are white, since 42% of white gay men have HVI.

Snow, can you share a link where you got the figure of 42% for white gay men in the US today having HIV?

I can find info about rates of new infections amongst MSM in the US, but not the overall prevalence. Wikipedia says that 14.5% of MSM in the US have HIV, but the source they give & link to - "UN AIDS data 2019" - doesn't actually say that. Or at least not that I could see.

A paper published in 2016 looked at HIV rates state by state & in various cities, & was said to have concluded that 15% of MSM in the US had HIV at the time. But it turns out a lot of their figures were gathered in 2009-13 & relied on estimates & extrapolations.

The CDC seems very cagey about this info. I've looked through all the info they provide & still can't come up with any broad statements about the prevalence amongst gay men as a whole, much less white gay men, black gay men, etc.

For example, this says that MSM make up 69% of all new diagnoses, & that 15% of new diagnoses are amongst whites (or I think that's what the graphic means). It also says that at the end of 2018, an estimated 740,000 MSM in the US had HIV - but I dunno what that means in terms of % of gay men, coz a lot of MSM aren't or don't "identify as" gay. Also, it's hard to come up with numbers of how many gay men there actually are in the US coz all the info seems to be given in estimated proportions of the population & when figures & %s are given they often are for the "LGBTQ" all mushed together. And as you know, today lots of people "identify as" belonging to that category when they are straight, or they're kids with little to no IRL sexual experience.

Another CDC source from several years ago estimates the lifetime risk for HIV is 1 in 6 MSM overall, for 1 in 2 black MSM and 1 in 4 for Latino MSM, but lifetime risk isn't the same as actual prevalence within the population:

Oh yeah, sorry, I read the stats wrong. I've searched & searched but no one wants to reveal the distribution of HIV among the different ethnic groups, only the reverse.

Probably has a lot to do with the high rates of prostitution.

I've often wondered if the higher crime victimsation rate (claimed) has more to do with their involvement with drugs and prostitution than anything else.
