Who are some opponents of the bill?

Biology, natural law, the full 6,000 years of human history.

Savage.

Some of the commenters on Ovarit seemed to think that the Babylon Bee was being serious about the "6000 years of human history."

For non-Americans, that 6000 years comes from the claims of some US Christians that the Earth is only 6000 years old (or it might be that humans have only existed for 6000 years?) so the Babylon Bee is making a joke within a joke, and probably non-Americans don't get that the Babylon Bee is being super-extra snarky.

Also, although the Babylon Bee's owners and writers have always been described by themselves and others as USA-style "conservative" and "Christian," from its founding the BB has made fun of Christian crazies and snake-oil salesmen (like Joel Osteen) and conservatives - along with all the rest of us.

Which points up a problem with the woke: they don't seem to have any sense of humor or comic traditions, and they all seem utterly to lack the ability to laugh at themselves.

No wonder they are so miserable! Being able to laugh at yourself, indeed to make fun of yourself, is one of life's greatest pleasures.

So much this. I said on another thread that I dislike some of Matt Walsh's takes on feminism - but his deadpan humor and snark is hilarious to me. Even when it's about feminism. The left generally has lost the ability to laugh at themselves. The woke seem to revel in misery.

Not long ago it was the conservatives, who couldn't laugh at themselves and couldn't meme. I've been watching in real time and in despair, that the Left has lost its sense of humor and has become an anti-intellectual husk of its former self.

When I used to spend time on tumblr, I noticed that there is a trend of self-deprecating jokes amongst the "woke". But they are usually the type of jokes that are supposed to elicit some sympathy. For example, they would joke about their social anxiety being so bad that they can't look the cashier in the eye when they make a payment. But I've rarely seen them make fun of actually stupid things that they do (individually or as a group).

Of course, tumblr isn't representative of all the left, but I do think that it reflects a trend on that side.

Yeah, young earth creationists. I remember that number, I just thought the BB was referring maybe to 6000 years of written/recorded human history. I don't know how accurate that is, but it sounded right without thinking about it too deeply, lol.

Yeah, they're playing on the somewhat self-deprecating trope of being a religious outlet, which makes it even funnier

Is the Babylon Bee religious? Everything I've read (not much) just seems super snarky, but so far I haven't gotten a religious undertone. The BB is hilarious though.

Yup yup its a Christian outlet, which makes it that much funnier that such a historically-uptight "identity" has turned the snark up to 11 to give the finger to progressive madness

Wow - and it's so funny. Yes, and very snarky. I don't associate devout Christians with snark, so it's a refreshing surprise.
