So... what if Ellen had decided to rename herself "Bob Johnson". Would no one be allowed to utter her birth name? Would anyone know who that refers to?

I think it's time to go back to when Prince changed his name to a bunch of symbols that were unfamiliar and unpronounceable, so everyone just referred to him as "the artist formerly known as Prince."

I'm going to start referring to all these attention-seekers similarly: "the actor formerly known as Ellen Page," "the Olympic athlete and father of many formerly known as Bruce Jenner," "the filmmakers formerly known as the Wachowski brothers," "the misogynist dickhead formerly known as Charles Clymer"... and so on.

Muhammed Ali and Yusuf Islam never had any problem with people referring to them as the boxer formerly known as Cassius Clay and the singer-songwriter formerly known as Cat Stevens. Why do today's narcissists get such special treatment? Why do they alone get to memory-hole their own pasts?

Lol. No clue, though I got into an argument with a couple wokesters about this issue earlier today - apparently even saying 'the actor formerly known as Ellen Page' is offensive. Pointed out that her name change was announced literally yesterday so asked if they expected people to be able to read minds. One of them suggested "the actor who was the star of <x> show", though he had no comment when I asked how anyone who hadn't watched the show/followed the cast would know who that meant. And of course, they'd have to have been successful enough to have starred in something...

They tie themselves into knots trying to justify the rules and the supposed respect it's all about. I suspect this is going to come to a head somehow in the next year, it's all so absurd and the non-woke are clearly getting tired of it.

Also, is Ellen Page now gonna be vying for best actor awards, as opposed to best actress ones? She'll find she's up for some stiff(y) competition, LOL. I doubt many male actors will look kindly on her trying to horn in on their turf.

Wonder if her coming out as trans is coz she's jockeying for some juicy "trans" parts? Perhaps "Rub 'n' Tug" is being brought out of development exile for her to star in?

But jeez, how would she ever play a male? She's tiny, with very delicate features and looks totally female. I don't think she has the chops or range that would allow her to be convincing as a male or sexually ambiguous character as so many actresses before her (Barbra Streisand, Julie Andrews, Ellen Barkin, Hillary Swank, etc) have done.

(Part of this comment was removed because I made a mistake).

Regardless, I was saying to my partner today- if EP gets her breasts removed, will she wear prosthetics to play female roles? How stupid does that sound.

There was a TiM in Queen's Gambit but it wasn't the actor who played Benny (which is the character I'm assuming you're referring to). The TiM is Rebecca Root who plays the chapel teacher at the orphanage. The actor who plays Benny is the boy who was in Love Actually and in Game of Thrones. As far as I know he is an actual male! He just has delicate features (like many child actors do).

Ok I’m silly, I confused the guy who played Benny for Elliot Fletcher, lol. Thank you for the correction!

Were they chicks (as in female)? Because every single account on instagram arguing the same thing were by female "queer" people, I noticed.

Not sure, really. It's a discord forum and I don't know from the usernames. The one who was the most vocal about it I'm pretty sure is female, though.

According to transactivists, you're not even allowed to use 'formerly known as' because that's a form of 'deadnaming', too. It's a damn gift to con artists and predators is what it is.

Everyone is supposed to forget Ellen ever existed, despite celebrity status. And not ask questions. Never ask the questions. In other news, we've always been at war with Eurasia.

Put 'Ellen' down the memory hole...You never saw a woman named 'Ellen Page' come out as a lesbian on national television.

Wonder what they'll say when/ if 'Elliot' detransitions.

The HRC insta-changed her coming out gay video on youtube to Elliot's coming out gay. Yes, the one where she says she's a woman. It now makes NO SENSE.

Because this is something I am loathe to say conservatives have a point on: the facts don't care about your feelings( They are totaly hypocrites on this, but I am going to ignore that for this) This over political correctness crap isn't about making people's lives better, it is about narcissism; and being obsessed with your feelings is a type of that. Ellen Page has a right to transition, but she has no right to force everyone to refer her as he and making eveyone immediately refer to her as Eliot. She has no right trying to make everyone forget that she once came out as a lesbian. She also has no right forcing the Umbrella Acadamy writers into making Vanya into a man. Bruce Jenner should have refused the woman of the year award.
