It certainly backfires somewhat, but they still manage to achieve the current desired effect of keeping it out of "left-wing" media coverage.

Apparently there's been a total left-wing blackout in terms of reviews, and they are happily extending that blackout to surrounding controversies like the Target thing.

Which in turn means that as it's only "right-wing" sources reporting it, if anyone brings it up it can be claimed that the book itself and all those promoting it are "right-wing".

Their aim is more to discredit the idea, than to merely hurt sales of the book. Book sales are pretty insignificant, compared to wider knowledge of the concepts.

Good stuff from Téa Smith on it:

At some point their antics become counterproductive, and the whole thing explodes, but they can keep a lid on it for a while.

Téa has a new video up comparing it to Big Tobacco's antics, but not watched it yet. They kept a lid on things for quite a while.

Honestly, I wish I could complain of right-wing media being the only ones willing to publish these stories. Because that would mean there are, at least, more people talking about this. Where I live no mainstream media will go against the TWAW dogma, let alone denounce the transition of minors for the medical scandal that it is.

I don't think the fact Abigail's book is selling well is insignificant. After all, the more people who read it the more people who will spread the word about this issue. And maybe after reading it they will think more critically about other aspects of the trans narrative, too.

Remember when the NYTImes reviewed Sheila Jaffreys and Michael J. Bailey? Those were the days :(

Yes, and I remember also when the NYT gave a prominent, pro-feminist rave review to Janice Raymond's "The Transsexual Empire" in the late 1970s.

I see why that would bother you but the thing is if more and more women continue to lean right what's going to happen is the left is going to have to address the issue sooner or later.
