This disscuss a paper that advocated for a ban on conversion therapy for gender identity because of the negative psicological impact on the patients. It arguess that study had many methodological problems and a very wide definition of conversion therapy (i.e. anything else than affirmative therapy was viewed as conversion therapy). Then it discuss some possible factors that could result in gender dysphoria, like sex assault, bullying, GNC behaviour or autism. It also says the affirmative method may work as conversion therapy for homosexuality sometimes. Then, it arguess affirmative therapy shouldn't be the first line of work because of the increasing number of detransitioners and the irreversibility of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries. It also mentions the recent change in demographics of gender dysphoria and how almost all children treated with puberty blockers proceed to cross-sex hormones.
