Ooh, what happened there?

If you Google 'knitting purity spiral' you can find several articles from your outlet of choice on the matter, but my favourite articles on the topic are these three from Quilette.

But in brief: a woman (who usually blogs about knitting) posted a blog about how 2019 would be her 'year of colour' and how excited she was to be able to travel to India, something she had wanted to do for several years. She described the experience of being offered a trip to India as akin to 'being offered a seat on a flight to Mars' and of course the Little Hitlers latched onto that comment and accused her of 'othering' India and, by extension, Indians.

Things quickly spiralled out of control and, as the first of the Quilette articles above rightly states, the whole sordid affair turned into a knitted Instagram witch trial. I feel sorry for the people who were caught up in it, but if, like me, you find yourself drawn into this trainwreck, I'd recommend some of the videos from Unsafe Space on the matter.

WTF is “year of color”? And WTF she meant by going to mars?

That said though India isn’t for the faint of heart.

Thanks for posting those links. I haven't read them yet, but it's the kind of drama I like.

Read the articles and they aren't as funny as I expected. Everything happened in the first half of last year and since then people like the crazy SJWs moved into real life and they're winning. And you can't speak against them because either.
