I stopped when I saw their giant trans rights sign a few years ago. Which did wonders for my bank account. The less I spend on these frivolous stores the healthier my portfolio becomes. Body Shop, lush etc depend on women spending thousands a year so they can stop feeling bad about existing as their natural self. That’s thousands not going towards your retirement and personal wealth.

I never could shop there, lol. They can paint themselves as a woke store “for the people”, but when a single bar of soap costs me eight bucks, and I’m struggling to pay my rent, I just feel a little bit like this is all a ploy and I’m actually kinda being exploited, y’know?

It's called greenwashing, and yeah... I like Dr Bronners and Pears soap. Not full of sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate and nasty artificial perfumes like Lush crap is, either.

I get Dudu Osun from the local international grocery. At least I know that it’s being sold to me by a local business run by immigrants. (Also, it does absolute wonders for problematic skin. My skin is a hellish genetic perfect storm of too-much-sweat, too-much-oil, and hypersensitivity to the very substances it itself produces in such vast quantities, and it’s honestly the only thing I’ll use anymore. And it doesn’t leave gritty neon-colored dyes all over my face.)

I tend to have the same problem. Lume works-ish for the sweat. I used Shea Moisture's Manuka Honey and Marula Oil shampoo on my face for a while, but it got too pricey to maintain. A couple of drops of marula oil on my face after washing seems to have normalized it though, and even given my skin a nicer texture over time. It actually absorbs and doesn't sit on your face and catch your hair like some kind of sticky 90s lipgloss either.

The best thing I've done for my wallet and self-worth was make my own toiletries at home. So much better for the environment too.

There's hundreds of blog posts with recipes that are easy to find.

I haven't bought soap, shampoo or conditioner in over a year.

Nice. Need to find those blogs myself and start doing this.

Do they have anti aging anti wrinkle labelled creams? A big NO NO from me.

They have acne stuff and yes things to make your skin look youthful etc. either way their stuff was way too expensive for one but I really was smitten with their bath bombs. I later realized they clogged the plumbing at home. I used to get the rainbow play dough bath bombs for my daughter but she grew out of baths do stop getting that.

Overall I think stores that abandon women is good for us. One of the key things that oppresses us in a capitalistic society is the lack of personal wealth. The less we spend on things that try to make us insecure, the better it is for our personal wealth. Use the money to invest or support causes. That is what I have been doing.
