Total freedom for men has historically meant slavery for women. Women who believe in freedom for women understand that this means a certain amount of restriction for men (just the amount that they should restrain themselves in order to be decent people, but that has never worked).

The 'security' he's talking about is safety from abuse and exploitation. That is freedom for women, from what men would do to them if they had full freedom.

Always love the argument that women are dependent on men for security, IE, for men to protect them from other men, or often, for there to be only one man responsible for abusing her. "In nature", many female herd animals band together and kick the adult males out. I see no reason why female humans couldn't, or shouldn't, do the same.

This is especially true given modern technology. We're much better able to even out the strength gap with tools. Secure construction for safety in our homes, automobiles for travel, and yes, weapons... I never want to harm anyone, but if I must to protect myself and my daughters, I will.

I'm a lifelong independent (old school liberal) and have never trusted libertarianism any farther than I could throw it. I've been politically courted by them a number of times, but they can never explain their position to me in a way that makes consistent sense. (Libertarian lurkers -- this isn't an invitation to 'splain. I can read.) 🙄 Also, loaded with smug dudebros.

libertarian is just a R that doesn't want to admit it.

Libertarians, at least politically in the US, are consistently against abortion even though that's not a free market libertarian position, and hold similar conservative positions in lockstep with the right. They're just rightwingers with a new coat of paint.

Does libertarianism serve women?

I can't imagine that most libertarians would support us...

no, they tend to be conservative, anti-choice, and anti any help for marginalized groups like women (ie, support for girls in stem). As far as I can tell they're good with the patriarchal status quo because it's 'free market', and hold their positions in a cultural vacuum.

It serves capital

I once read that libertarians have many more men than women in it, probably because of the basic tenets of the ideology. That ideology thinks they are the biggest predators in the jungle so having the jungle be lawless works to their advantage. Most women viscerally know that there are bigger predators than they in the jungle.

But nobody stays in that top predator rank forever. Old libertarian men, too, will need caregivers and diaper changers, for instance. That's why I think some aspects of libertarianism are particularly appealing to middle and upper class teen boys who don't yet understand how protected and cosseted their lives might have been (and think they did it all on their own) and so can't yet understand what interdependencies mean.

in their nature they are dependant on men

But what about lesbians? Are they pretending they not exist? Or is it the reason why transbians went into lesbian spaces - to "help" women find a man?

And just a little correction: Men are also dependent on women. Without biological women men can't have any offspring.
